Default playing my first buy in tournament

On kind of a whim tonight, I signed up for a 2.75 entry jetset stud 8/b tournament.

Going very well for me thus far, I've hovered in the top 5 most of the tournament. Jetset just shut down for 5 minutes so I've got a bit of a break. 5 more until we reach the money, as long as I don't do anything stupid I should cash in.

But I am wondering what kind of strategies other people use in stud 8/b tournaments.

if its late in the tournament, raise every pot you enter...this will keep players from limping in...try to stick with hands with both a low and a high component, i also like to play 3 suited cards to begin with...anyway, you know the game well adaon, keep up the good work, and lets see a final table

Made it in the money as the chip leader of all things. I've been playing tight and it's paying off by letting me steal pots when I only had half of it.

10 left, I'm the chip leader.

me: 23.5k
2nd: 9.4k

9 left
me:32k
2nd: 9.4k

With nine left a couple people hit big draws to double up off me and tighten things up. Down to 4 now and there's no doubt I'm playing the best of those left.
me: 34,260
2nd: 25,474
3rd: 11,536
4th: 5,230

Took a while, but down to 3.
me: 48k
2nd 18k
3rd 8k

heads up
50k vs 25k
27k to 49k Kings vs rolled up 7s

and with a set of 9s I win my first stud 8/b tournament (vs 2 pair)

Thanks everyone. D thanks for that advice. I kept pounding people with raises on 3rd street, I kept picking up a lot of dead money and kept people from trying to go to 4th street with weak low cards.

The money wasn't nearly as big to me as winning it. Only 51 entred so first was worth $31. But just knowing I can win is probably going to cause me to play more of these small buy ins to help out my bankroll.
