You are playing too many pots for too much money.

Well I used to be awful at stud but now that i've been playing a little bit I have some tips on starting hands. It's not much help, but if ur a Stud newbie it can give you a base to improve on.

simliar to holdem, any 3 hi-cards its playable, as are pocket pairs. Also, 3 suited cards is good, as are 3 connectors. (567, 987, 10,J,Q)

i've gone by this and it's helped me out a little. I'm still not very good tho lmao! but i've found that by not playin dumb hands ull be better off.

To use/adapt an example I've heard for Omaha, if you play a hand on the baises of just one or two cards, you are spotting your oppenents that advantage (your hand is 33% worse). You want three cards that work together.

Two pair, straights, and flushes are going to win the most hands, look for starting hands that will help you get there. i.e.e (6 6) A. can make two pair, but your second pair is weak, so you don't want to pay too much for this hand even though it is playable.

yeah, like u said usually 2 pair will win but also like u said u want a good high pair to be ur over pair or soemones got ur 2 pair bested.

usually if ur overpair isnt J's Q's K's or A's muck it

i wouldnt even call a big bet with 10's as my overpair.

Depending on the table size, I may not even call bets with aces up...always beware of the straights and flushes, as well as trips (actually, those are the hardest to spot in my opinion)...Two pair in stud is the equivalent of top pair in hold'em..nice to have but by no means an insane hand.

You need to wait for good starting hands like ak9. you cant call those bad hands it will just get you into trouble and I think thats what you are doing and thats what I think you are doing wrong. You play as many starting hands in stud as you would in holdem or any other game.
