Default Interesting stud variants

I've heard of other variants of 7-card stud than plain stud and stud hi/lo... I think they were called Chicago and baseball? Anyone familiar with those (and/or more variants), and know their rules? Would be nice to learn them!

Well, the chicago is probably Hi or Lo Chicago.... it's a normal 7 card stud game, but the Hi or Lo spade in the hole splits the pot. It's played in alot of dealers choice games, since it splits the pot. It helps spread the winnings out and keeps the game alive longer.

Well, J-TheMatador, I truly know that there are many types of poker. But, unfortunately, that's not what I am asking for. I asked if anyone knew the rules for the specific stud variants Chicago and baseball, because I've heard they're good. I also asked if anyone could suggest some other stud variants that are nice to play. And by the way, stud with no limit wouldn't have been any fun. There are five bets (or chances to bet) per player in a stud round... You would probably be all in every single round. Second, in stud, you don't get to know your hand that well. (Like you do in hold'em after the flop. It's like three cards just popping up at the same time. Here, in stud, you get one at a time, and it takes time to see your options) It couldn't be no limit, and I think we should be thankful they already figured that out before us
Blackinks, nice, that's what I suspected it to be... It seems nice, but isn't it kind of weird to play? I mean, if you got the ace of spades, you're like sure you win, it'll be no doubt you bet a lot...

Well, it's mindless fun. Extremely easy to read. The only time it gets interesting really is when you have two guys fighting for the low. Situations where the 2s vs the 3s and both are betting and raising, along with the Hi hand.
Other variations for dealers choice:

Roll your own: All 7 streets are dealt face down, and the player chooses which cards to expose.

Deuces wild: All 2's are wild. For extra challenge, I do the deuces wild where any exposed wild card must match the pot or fold. Give's other players better odds to try to outdraw the guy with the potential wild card.

Sorry, I'm not so into these many poker variants, so I've gotta ask you... I've read (in this thread, and in many other threads in this forum), the word wild card. And it sounds familiar (maybe from slot machines or something), but i can't figure out what it means. You might have already said it or hinted to it, but may I ask you to tell me the exact meaning? Thanks

stud lo is a great game, also known as razz....you can play this on fulltilt

think of stud hi/lo, exept only lo hands count....lowest hand wins, its a great game

in response to matadors "change the limit" suggestion, it wouldnt work....there are 5 round of betting in stud, and even with limit the pots can build up to quite a good size, if you even had PL stud it would get to the point where you cant play a hand without going all in....

Wild card means that if you have that rank of card, it now becomes any card that you want it to be to fill out your hand. For example, in deuces wild, if you have 2 dueces in the hole, and a pair of kings showing, you would have 4 of kind, with the Kings.
For every wild card rank, the median winning hand is raised one level. In regular 7 card stud, the average winning hand is two pair. With one rank of wild cards, the average winning hand would move to three of a kind. So, you need at least trips in deuces wild to really have a shot at the pot.

And PS: I hate wild card games!!!!

My buddies and i used to play Baseball sometimes, the way we played was it was dealt and betted exactly like stud with 3's and 9's wild (3 outs an inning, 9 innings a game) and if you had a 4 dealt face up you got another card, and if you had a 4 dealt face down you could buy another card.
thats just how a bunch of high school kids played it though...
