Default John Murphy

What happened to him? I thin he missed out on the final table by one spot. How did he get knocked out? I liked him a lot and thought it was pretty funny when he slept late and missed some of the tourney. I would not be able to sleep if I was him, so young and so close to sucess in the Main Event.

John Murphy was knocked out in about 13th place when his AK lost to Matt

dean's pocket Jacks. I believe Marcel Luske was the last player to be knocked

out before the final table. He lost alot from sitting about 100,000 in blinds and

antes. Maybe we will see him next year. It's unbelievable how he could oversleep

when he had the chance of a lifetime to win the main event!!!!!

The funniest thing about that whole thing is that the day prior to him sleeping in they filmed him saying directly to the camera, "I'm gonna sleep like a baby." Sure enough the next day he doesn't show up to play for 5 mil. LOL. That's funny! ~ Biggs

Murphey was alright. I think he did so well because he was just a kid and didn't really care what happened, so when he got a chip stack, he would play ridiculous hands and win. He seems like a One Hit Wonder (kinda like Moneymaker).

Also, in the WSOP, has anyone noticed that they really "follow" a few players that end up doing real well. This year, during all of the main event shows, I kept seeing Greg Raymer. I had never heard of him, but they kept putting him on TV. They also did this with Murphey. Last year, they kept showing Moneymaker throughout the tourney, even though obviously no one knew who he was. And last year, they kept showing Dutch Boyd. ESPN obviously follows around almost every player and whoever ends up preforming well, they show on tv. If Murphey hadn't of been young, he probably would never have been on tv at all.
