Default Interviewing Dave Colclough

Dave Colclough has agreed to answer questions from THF members

Usual procedures....ill keep the thread open til the weekend or so and then send him the questions to complete

His Website : http://www.blondepoker.com/
Details from wiki : Colclough is considered one of the best Omaha players in the world. However, he is known as an impressive player in all poker variants, as the European Rankings have proven since their creation in 2000.

Colclough first became known for his numerous appearances on the Late Night Poker television series, including the season 5 grand final.

According to Colclough's profile of himself, he won an event at the 2000 WSOP (presumably the $2,000 pot limit hold'em event) but gave away the bracelet in a deal.

In 2003 his continued success led to him being voted European Poker Player of the Year.

Colclough had a final table appearance at the World Poker Tour's third season Grand Prix de Paris event, where he won €84,890 ($103,507).

In May 2005, he reached the semi-finals of the World Heads-Up Poker Championship, earning €20,000.

Colclough was inducted into the European Poker Players Hall of Fame during 2005, and at the age of 41 was the youngest inductee.

He spent much of 2005 travelling with and training Brian "Rookie" Wilson, who went on to win a bracelet at the 2005 World Series of Poker. Wilson continually credits Colclough for his achievements.

In 2006, Colclough's BlondePoker.com website opened its own online poker room. On the BlondePoker.com forums, Colclough is often referred to as "Monty Burns" by his friend Tony Kendall and other forum posters.

As of 2006 he has won over $2,000,000 in live tournament play.

the recent us gambling bill has been bad for the poker industry in my opinion....particularly online poker.

However, do you believe that European Poker will benefit from this decision - ie. poker companies are now concentrating more on promoting and developing the european poker biz.

Do you see any European country in the future adopting a similar stance to the USA's bill?

Hi Dave , Do you think that the new bill that fonz referred to will effect the level of play in the wsop , wpt , and ept events? Because obviously there wont be as many online qualifiers ,thereby the players who actually do play in these events will have directly bought in. Does this bill seem like a good or bad thing in your opinion?

i was in vegas for a week in june. Whilst sitting at the tables some guys from Glasgow walked by who i had played against at Cincinnattis. They said just before they left it had been busted by the police. I mentioned it to someone when i got home but no one really knew what happened except that the club was still open.
How does this kind of thing affect clubs like cincinattis and ihow does it affect its future?

When playing omaha ring games to what extent do you play hands like:-

1010jq - hands that can only highs and are vulnerable to higher straights and full houses?

and to what extent hands like A239 double suited - hands with little chance at the high ( only a flush and the odd other combinition) but excellent low potential?

To what extent do you bet with a board lock on the turn that has some vulerability such as a2xx on 578K where if an ace or a 2 comes your low could be counterfitted (it might be duplicated anyway) or do you just check and call (or fold if you sense its not worth risking being quartered/counterfited)?

And for NL Holdem
How important is it for you not to bust out in the first few hours of a tourney? Will you willing risk your whole stack or are you loath to do so?

Finally Would you call an all in with AK when you suspect you could be against something like QQ with a few extra hundred thrown in a pot thats arround 1500 to call in a tournament?

Do you enjoy playing poker for a living? i know we all enjoy the game very much, but im sure the swings can get rough and long hours at the tables can get grueling.

What do you think is a better way to improve your game and why.
A online poker tourney with 5000 people or a Live tourney with 100.

thank you for taking time to help us out.

when i was playing in a tournament midweek at cincinnattis i heard how you busted someone upstairs at omaha.
Basically, the story i heard was that you had lost 2 grand to him 2 or 3 times and then one night you busted him for over 30 grand. Can you tell us a little more about this? Is this something that professional poker players do a lot eg let big gamblers beat them on a few occasions and soften them up for the big score

Are you naturally blonde or do you dye your hair like a cheeky sod?
