Review of the Ultimate Dealer Button - Dealer Button with Clock, Blinds & Antes
| | Reviewed 4th June 2006 This is the THF review of Ultimate Dealer Button - Dealer button and tournament clock (click here to comment on this review).
The Ultimate Dealer Button is the latest in a new trend of adding a poker clock and other functionality to the dealer button. The UDB has taken it further than the DealerButton by adding a blind/chip tracker as well as the tournament clock.
Features
Here are the main features of the button :-
- Displays both SMALL and BIG blinds
- Keeps track of ROUND TIMES using hours, minutes and seconds
- BEEPING SOUND alerts all players of expired round time
- Easy-to-read large LCD
- Lets you know the exact time left in play
- Ability to PAUSE and RESTART timer at anytime
- 3" (diameter) X 1/2" (height)
- Perfect size for your current chip case
- Optional "K" representing thousands for larger games and tournaments
- Keeps your game organized Shows ANTE (if any) as well
- Labeled display, preventing confusion
- Keeps your game organized
- Five straight-forward buttons manage everything for you
- Battery included
The button is pretty big when compared to a standard dealer button with a large part of the button housing an lcd screen which shows all the information. There are 5 buttons in total. Namely, an on/off button, start pause button, shift button and up and down keys.
These buttons are used to adjust the 5 sections which are displayed on the lcd screen.
- Round : The round can be any value from 0 to 99.
- Time : There is a minute and a second part - both of which can be adjusted between 0 and 59 (ie. 59 minutes 59 seconds if the maximum round time)
- Small Blind : The small blind can be any value from 0 to 999. You can also add a K to signify thousands.
- Big Blind : As Above.
- Ante : The ante has the same range as the blinds.
Its very straight forward to setup. You press the shift key and the round time starts flashing. You can then set the value by pressing the up and down keys. You then press the shift key to move to the next section. After the 5 sections have been completed (named above) you're good to go and pressing the start/pause button will get you on your way.
The button is made from a hard plastic and takes a watch type battery to power it (you know the kind!). I havent had the button long enough to comment on the battery life but i dont expect it to have any problems as the lcd screen is just displaying basic information.

Conclusion
I was hoping to write some more about the button but i have found it difficult as there's not much to it - change the settings and then start the clock. The button comes with a small page of instructions in english, spanish and french but its doubtful you'll even glance at them as its very straight forward. Anyone who knows how to change the time on their digital watch and operate it!!!
Overall ive been happy with it. Its easy to use and is fairly priced at $29.95.
