Hi Viking, pokertracker doesnt help you with live stats such as pot odds/EV of starting hands etc. but what it does do is generate info from all your hand history. This allows you to review your game and hopefully 'plug the gaps' to help you become a better player. I was reluctant to spend the cash at first but Im so glad I took the plunge and bought it (via Fonz).
Another plus point is that it also tracks all the players you are at a table with and generates stats for them aswell. Helps you get a view on other peoples playing style.
You do need to have a decent sample size of hand histories tho before it becomes truly worth while. Ive not been playing online for long, so Ive got a sample size of around 7000 hands so far, just enough to give me some good feedback on my game.

Let's say you are in a game with AmySlider and she raises UTG, so you wonder what kind of hands that might be, or how aggressive she is post flop, or how many times she goes to showdown when she voluntarily puts money into the pot. Poker Tracker tells you. Or say you are playing against Boiler. You would know that a button raise means AA, AK or KK, and you could fold QQ in your BB without a thought. You could also see that statistically, if AzViking is in the hand late, the forum rules are going to change to dramatically affect the outcome. Not really, but you get the point. I have about 70,000 hands catalogued. It is a powerful tool, and I am certain I am not getting all out of it that I could be.

OK viking the program for you might be poker indicator

It is not a program I have used myself but from what I can gather it is first and foremost a sophisticated odds calculator that stores information about your opponents as well.

Poker tracker is excellent, full of stats (so full it boggles some people) but it does not deal with pot odds etc.

Wow...this is interesting. So PokerTracker gives you your hand history as well as the other people at your tables. Wow thats neat...I may have to check this out. I play poker online quite a bit and this might be a help. So Fonz you say there is a free trial...I think I'm going to give this a try.

No, it will keep track of every hand history you give it access to. When I used the software certain sites wernt fully compatible. Absolute Poker for instance was a pain in the arse, since you had to add each tourney manually( not pokertrackers fault, it's the way AP writes their hand histories)

Take the advice of the others who have used it regularly and on the short trail I used it I'd certainly recommend it - if you play a lot of serious poker. The software is quite simple but the stats and information is incredible. If you can get used to using it, set it up to suit your needs, then it's a really great tool.

I wont buy it yet, I don't play enough and my bankroll isnt enough- if those increase over time I'd buy it without a second thought.
