| Too Easy to Rig the Hand Poker Stars | |

| | | | Stars must have something going on. if you are in a sit n go room. a player doesn't call a blind for 5 or 6 hands. you think he's waiting for the right cards. suddenly going all in after a number of hands. I called this guy because of pocket rockets. The player that I thought to be a stead-fast good player put me all-in with a 2-7 off suit. had the boat on the flop. cleared me out. A bad player would know better. Even if he called me, I could understand. I don't like going all-in blind. could this event and many more like it be explained as dumb luck by dumber people... I DON'T THINK SO | |

Please don't misunderstand what I said. I don't believe that is "rigged" against any one player or group of players.
I believe that Stars has what is known as the "Rubberband AI."
Have you ever played a sports or fighting related video game like Madden or Mortal Kombat that just when it seems you have won, the computer AI comes back on you like a bat out of hell? That is the rubberband AI in a nutshell. I think that something kicks in the RNG when a hand is behind and has very few outs that increases the chances of a miracle card. It doesn't happen every time, but far more than it should statistically. I noticed this particularly when the behind hand needed runner-runner to win....like this for example.
I have My opponent has
and the flop is
Clearly the only way the K-8 can win is by runner-runner. A 5-6 makes a straight. He needs running kings or eights to make trips, or a K-8 for two pair. Finally, two clubs make a flush (assuming that neither is the and the other club pairs the board). On PokerStars, it isn't unusual at all to see one of those beats happen. Actually, I was far more surprised when I saw the aces hold up in this situation.
As I said, the rubberband AI snaps back and smacks you right in the eye.

| | | | I'm wondering the same thing... I never have any luck with J/10 for the record. Last night, J/10 spades, I go all in. The flop comes-- all reds... :-x

| | | | There was some thought a few years ago that jack-ten suited was among the most powerful hands in hold'em. For a while, everyone played them like they were aces and calling any raise with them as they become oh so popular. Eventually, it was figured out that J-10 suited is OK, but not superb.
K-8 suited is being played by a lot more players for a lot more bets nowadays. Sooner or later, it will die out too.

| | | | hmmm we all know there are approx 1.5 million poker combinations right? so the dealing programs have to be programmed to deal any one of those combonitions at any time, which means runners are not out of line. Luck, in online poker is simply having the best possible hand on the board. As for a player going all in with a 7-2 offsuit, after folding on small blinds, and in the big blind after a raise, there are programs out there that can compute to some what of an accurate degree what the hand will be by analyzing the last hands, and the statistical odds of hitting that exact hand. Or more realistically, just some player who honestly thinks that playing a 7-2 is a good idea, beacuse everyone else folds it, and plays it just for the simple fact that he is an underdog and likes to win with an inferior hand.
We all know it can happen. | |

| | | | I understand what youre saying, but ,in the end run someone wins and someone loses,Ive won pretty..and Ive won very ugly.IThe simple truth is all 5 cards count.. so the hand can change from card to card and peoples style vary by their stack, their mood, their gut feeling, their read ......alot of variables decide the outcome,,you never know who will stay or fold on any given hand or when.( enjoyed reading your post by the way) | |
