Default January 2006 Competition : Win a 500Pc 11.5 Gram "Suited" Poker Chip Set

Our Friends at PokerShopping have been very good to donate a chip set every month to THF members

Details of the Chip Set

500Pc 11.5 Gram "Suited" Poker Chip Set w/Aluminum Case
Super

The ultimate all-in-one Poker Chip set for 7-8 players fully equipped with the following high quality items
  • 500 pc "Suited" design 11.5 gram composite poker chips. These poker chips are made of top quality composite resin with a metal insert for the added weight. They are heavy-weighted, durable, resistant to scratch marks, and have a superior touch and feel making them the most popular chips for home gaming use. The Suited design is highly attractive.
  • 2 decks of brand new Washable Plastic Playing Cards.
  • 5 brand new dice
  • 1 dealer button
  • Deluxe aluminum poker chip case sleekly designed with rounded edges and lined with plush foam for maximum protection.

This set includes Casino sized Poker Chips (39 mm diameter) with no printed value in the following colors:
  • 150 white chips (commonly used as $1)
  • 150 red chips (commonly used as $5)
  • 100 blue chips (commonly used as $10)
  • 50 green chips (commonly used as $25)
  • 50 black chips (commonly used as $100)

An advantage of using chips with no printed value is that you can assign the value you prefer to different colors.

Full details of the chip set can be found here (they have some more images of it there!)

Competition Details

As you know we have a member guides section. This can be found here
We havent added it for some time though we believe it to be very useful to people...particularly to people just starting to learn the game.

The chipset will be given to the person who writes the best member guide. Since we're already into December and with Christmas coming up etc, we thought it would be best not to rush the first competition so the entry date will extend from today (6th December 2005) up until 31st January 2006. After that the competition will be back to normal - ie. will be from 1st February to 28th February and so on.

A 4 day poll will be used to determine who is the winner.

THF staff are also permitted to take part in this competition

Guidelines :-

* Have a look at previous guides to give you an idea of what were looking for. If possible, try and cover something we havent already done. Any aspect of poker can be used - holdem, omaha, stud etc
* Member guides should be long and descriptive.....3 paragraphs wont do

Rules :-

We have held competitions like this in the past. Unfortunately, on more than one occasion people have tried to cheat us and fellow members.

I hate to have to add rules etc however we wont this competition to be as fair as possible and for the prize to go the person who deserved it.

* Anyone found ripping off material from elsewhere, be it from the web or another forum, will be disqualified. Any approved status would also be removed. We check all guides for originality.
* Anyone found trying to cheat the poll system will be disqualified. Members should vote for who they think wrote the best guide - they shouldnt vote for their buddies.

Good luck to everyone who participates and a big thank you to PokerShopping for doing this for us

i would suggest people to pick a certain topic if they can. You could then incoporate the odd previous statement or tip into it.

If people were just rehashing everything theyve ever said though then we'd have to discuss it more. I think it would be unfair to people writing 100% original guides were getting less votes than members who simply copied and pasted from older posts

i think it will be fonz most players who get bust down ti 270 chips in a torny where you start with 5000 chips would panic they would not know how to handle a short stack and its not the first time i have made comebacks like this to make money i think its a usefull skill to learn

we havent set up a member guide section as yet
we may do so in the future but for now that strategy room is definately the best place to put it
