Sluggishness of Pokerroom.com Download Client Poker Room support has declined sharply in the past year. They used to be very responsive to customer concerns. Now whatever problem you encounter is blamed on you, usually in a boiler plate response via email. For instance, in the past week I have found the download client to be completely unusable. It is so sluggish in response that many players have their hands folded before they can act because the client has frozen.
The messages pop up in a window: "Server Message: Warning: Slow Connection" The message also displays in the chat window.
Is anyone else experiencing this?
I have chatted with others about this online and the typical response is: "I gave up on the download client a long time ago." True enough, the java client runs without any lag. But it is useless if you want to make notes on other players and to keep track of the chat log to review your play, which is especially bad since Poker Room does not provide hand histories for tournament play.
Poker Room's response to this concern is to not respond at all. I get on their case enough as it is because of their poor cash out times, but when you get to a point where the software can actually lose you money, well, that's a problem that they should be sensitive to. But they're not.
In a turbo SNG tonight I was disconnected for 30 seconds and I was on the bubble. Only by a split second was I able to slide the bar to make my bet, which was all in with pocket queens. After making the money I just barely was able to make my final move with AA heads up. Thankfully the software finally let me back in and even more thankfully I won.
I know Poker Room sponsors this site, and if this message gets censored I'll never post here again, as much as I like it here. But these people need to be reminded about who the customer really is.
With all of that said, it is still my favorite site because of their pay out structure in tournaments and SNG's, selection of different types of tourneys and SNG's, and the user interface -- when it isn't costing me money.
