DSCOTTR17, I agree with you that poker stars is seeing an influx of worse and worse players. Maybe a short break is good if you find this frustrating. I firmly believe that its easier to make money in these games if you follow the strategy of playing the opposite style of the table. A 9 player SNG with 3-5 ultra-loose players can be beat with tight preflop play, aggressive post flop, and aggressive turn/river (with a good hand of course). You should only be playing maybe 1 hand in 10-15 on this table until it gets down to 6 players and then shift gears. That's my strategy against these players and so far its being working pretty successfully.

Maybe If you tried playing 6-handed tables then the maximum # of players that could call preflop would be 6 and that is if everybody calls.

dscott, to not call with QKo getting 5 to one odds on your call, with NO possibility of a reraise behind you... that is probably too tight if you want to stay profitable. You dont hit, you get out. But you only have to win 1/10 times with that hand (if you throw in implied odds) to make money. QKo will win more than that.

he called with JQ. and with those odds, you almost have to call with ANY 2 cards. even a tight pro like my hero Harrington would say so I'd guess. You got unlucky there. He made a reasonalbe play with the odds he was getting.

As for the 73o guy. Well, there's no accounting for idiots. Thats why (esp in limit) you cant look at a one hand result. My guess is that over 1000 hands, he is not profitable. Limit poker is not results driven. It's large number driven. Thats why I dont like it. Too much like blackjack.

just my 2Cents. Good luck wherever you play

Ultimate Beat. When I first started playing I deposited $120 there and lost it in less than one hour. I went on tilt after having AA cracked twice and a flush beaten by a straight flush. Those three hands just turned my butt upside down and I lost it. Compared to those days, Elvis right now is pretty damned mellow.

I am a profitable no-limit SNG player. For the past 10,000 limit hands, according to Poker Tracker, I'm almost dead break even. Clearing bonuses just makes me appear more profitable than I really am. Why I have bothered with 10,000 hands of playing zero-sum poker is a testament to either my tenacity or an even stronger testament to my addiction.

But in playing all of these hands on three different sites, one of them being PS, I always log off of that site with a feeling that I've been absolutely screwed. OK, you think I'm being irrational, but that's the way I feel. And even after winning that one-hour heads up SNG last night, I was still left with the feeling that the fix was in against me.

I just don't trust that software. I can't really say this about any other site. And I've never busted out of Poker Stars, but I've busted out of plenty of others, and I still feel this way. I've survived Poker Stars despite seeing some of the most incredible sequence of turn and river cards. I've played mostly on Poker Room since I started, and I've easily played 50,000 hands there. And I've busted out of Poker Room more times than I care to count, but I always felt it was because of my bad play. But again, I just don't trust Poker Stars.

Ergo, I don't play there anymore.
