Default Worst call of the century?

Date / Time: 2005-07-09 00:31:00
Title: Farha's Back
Log: After a period where Sammy Farha fell from being one of the chip leaders, he has made an aggressive move. Heads up with his opponent, Rick Barabino, Farha pushed all in after seeing a flop of Jh-9c-7h and a turn card of 10c. Barabino called and turned over K-J. Farha threw down pocket 8's, giving him the straight. The river was a 4 and Barabino was forced to push his chips into Farha's pile. Sammy Farha now has about $90,000 in chips.

Okay, so not even close to the worse call, but man, you have got to be pretty bad to make that play (Rick).

My thoughts on that were that he thought Sammy was trying to buy the pot based on his reputation. It would be a tough call to lay down top pair. I would be tempted to have done just what he did since you have to think to yourself "what would Sammy be doing holding an 8" My mind would be thinking a guy that good wouldn't be that far in the pot with a weak kicker. The only logical thing to think would be that he was holding 88. But, the chances of that were in his favor against it being true. Hard to second guess that move.

I'm thinking what can I beat. What would Sammy risk all his chips here with? QJ is the only thing you can beat besides a stone cold bluff, we can't really speculate because we don't know how the betting went, but by just looking at that, horrible call.

Default Rick Barabino

Actually, Rick is my cousin and we discussed this. He thought Sammy was overly aggressive and put him on a semi-bluff. He figured him for AQ or maybe KT. He also reasoned that if Sammy had the 8 or two pair, Rick still had outs.

Farha could be holding anything there, it's why he's so difficult to play against. Hold'em isn'teven his best game either,he's a PLO8 player by nature.
