You have K-K Part II...but the situation is different OK here goes...ace.ten took a bit of a pounding when he held K-K for only limping in, including from me, I had K-K last night and only raised it one bet...but see if this was not a bad play - I have been getting beat on for only raising one bet, plus I was told this was a stupid play...
I am about 55th of 60 players left. Made the money cause the tourney's paying 135 places ($10 no rebuys), I've made it through four bubbles...
Blinds are 1500/3000
I have 11.7K, lowest stack on the table, and I am sitting one off the bb.
I get dealt K-K...but instead of going all-in, I make it 6000, half my remaining chips. All folds to the little blind, who raises and puts me all in, I of course call. Little blind only had A-9 off.
The way the hand played out is a story in itself, but here's why I did what I did, and what I wanted to happen did happen. If I raise to all-in right away, there is a good chance I will get no callers and only pick up 4.5K. And in two more hands I am going to be hit up for blinds, and there's a good chance I will lose the 4.5K right back. I WANTED to be raised, and although normally you'd want to be heads-up with K-K, I really wouldn't have minded getting another caller or two in my situation. Several players had at least 40-50K, they may be putting me on only maybe two high cards or a low pair. Down to what I had, you have to look for a shot with anything semi-decent. With my stack I am about ready to go under for the third time, so if I can get lucky and triple up that's worth the additional risk of not going all in and inviting more than one caller.
Back to the hand...my K-K vs. A-9 off...flop is 8-T-4...turn an Ace (noooooo)...river...A KING!!!...had him all the way, lol...
So instead of possibly winning only 4.5K, I take home a 27.9K pot for a profit of 16.2K. And stayed in about 15 more hands and lasted through three more bubbles (is that the right term...I know what's meant by the bubble...but is it called the bubble with each succeeding point where the prize money bumps up a notch?).
Anyway I ended up 27th and got $60. Not front page material of course, but I wasn't complaining. If I had lost that hand, I'm still getting about $30-40, so it was worth it no matter what happened. |
