Play Kd-8d from the SB on the bubble of a SNG? Hi all,
Just played this interesting hand at a SNG, and was wondering if anyone could give me some advice?
The scenario: PS SNG, we are 4-handed with the blinds at 100/200, about to go to 100/200 with a 25 ante. Stack sizes are 5300, 3500, 2500, and I have 2200.
In the small blind, I have Kd-8d. UTG (stack size 2500) calls, I limp, and BB (5300) checks.
The flop comes Ad-6d-6s. I check, BB checks, and UTG bets 400, which I call. BB folds.
The turn is the 2d, giving me the flush. I check, UTG bets 600, and I call.
The river is the Ah. I check, UTG goes all in, and I call. UTG shows A4 off, and IGHN.
I'm not sure if this is poor play or just poor luck.
1. Post-flop: I think my stack is a little too large to just push in and hope for the best. An all-in bet at this stage could win the pot immediately, but with these stack sizes I was hoping to double-up if my flush hits, and waiting for another opportunity if I either get pushed off the pot or a blank hits. When UTG bet only 400 into a pot of 600, I think the implied odds are right for a call.
2. Turn: Once my flush came in, I wanted to get all of UTG's money. I chose a check-call, since I did not want the fold that a check-raise might induce. Once UTG bets 600, perhaps I should just go all in here. I just called, because I was hoping to double up. Sidebar: what would you have done when the flush card hit and you have aces up?
3. River: I confess, I got lost on the river. I had put UTG on something like KQ, KJ, QJ, or Ax. Going all-in on the river gets the same result as checking and calling, on this hand, but I wonder what is best in general. It doesn't seem right that an ace on the river should scare me off, leaving me with only 1000 left.
In general, I think I played this OK. Granted, I was greedy, particularly on the turn. But given my hand and his likely ones, I think I was about a 90% chance to double up.
Thanks for the advice. |
