A small bit of sastisfaction... ...comes from seeing a lucky SOB at your tournament table fall flat on his face after you've been knocked out.
I'll withhold the name, cause for one the guy wasn't running his mouth or anything...just he was winning EVERY coin flip. In less than an hour I know he won at least 6 or 7 coin flip hands going against another's (usually small) all-in bet. And after the cards were shown, if he had, say A-9 vs. J-J, the chat box would say "AAAAAAAAAAAAA"...once he called with Q-9 vs. 10-10 with a 9 on the flop...here it comes..."QQQQQQQQQQQQQ"...so what's he get? Another 9!!!
But he was even doing that when he was ahead...like with A-x and an Ace on the flop vs. a smaller pair..."AAAAAAAAAAAAA"...
Anyway, I had been doing pretty well, I was about 40th of maybe 600 or so close to the second break. Our friend was in the top 5. He had been raising a lot preflop and probably stealing more than a few pots. Blinds were 200/400, I am dealt A-Q. After a few folds, Mr. Lucky (with about 22,000 or so) raises to about 800-1000 I think. I've got about 12,000 so I call (possibly I should have raised right there?...I am suspecting another steal move maybe). Big blind also calls.
Flop comes Q-8-8, two of a suit. BB checks. Mr. Lucky bets 2,000. Well I'm raising. I make it 4,000. Now let's see what he does. But here comes the BB with an all in move, he's got about 14,000 or so, whatever it was enough to make ME go all in. Mr. Lucky folds and I fold. I gotta put this guy on at least another 8, right?
Anyway, that hand cost Mr. Lucky 3,000...but it cost me 5,000. About half my stack gone, poof! After that I didn't get anything really, and was eventually KO'ed in 208th place. Of 1,841 players (BIG turnout, even for a measly $3 tourney). At the time I think there were about 220-230 players left. Mr. Lucky is in 2nd.
So today I check the results...keep scrolling down...down...down...ah, there he is...in 137th, for a net profit of...$1.41!!! Guess he stood up and the horseshoe fell out... |
