| | | | Internet Punks I had the pleasure of beating a real Internet PUNK today. This guy was obnoxious, rude and demeaning to everyone at the table. I think he was trying to put people on tilt, but he could have been just a jerk in real life anyway. He surged ahead early (by bluffing in my opinion) and had about 5K in chips and then was leaning on everyone. If he caused them to fold he would say something really shitty to taunt them. Well, anyway to make a long story short, I would up with him heads-up and tore him down from 8K in chips to nothing in about 10 minutes. I loved it. He kept crying that I was just lucky and he was a much better player.
Don't you love it when something like that happens?

| | | | Re: Internet Punks I don't often get the opportunity, but damn straight, it's nice to chop those arrogant bastards down a peg. More frequently though, I just silently sit back and watch the rest of the table get unnerved and make plays against the guy, all the while I'm feverishly jotting notes to go with the PT data. I learned my lesson early on to channel the urge to berate into something much more potent: taking great notes. | |

| | | | Re: Internet Punks Welcome to the board Scotty! I wish I could do like you do and channel my anger the other way, but truth be known, guys like that do upset me. Oh well... wish i was Spock sometimes.

| | | | Re: Internet Punks I play under Mr.Thumb, and I used to get pretty upset at times if I had a bad beat or if someone was annoying me etc. But now I just sit back and I have become a much better sport about internet poker. Now my comments are pretty limited. nh, ty, and gg are about all I ever write now. So I want to apologize to anyone I have ever been a dick to in the past.

| | | | Re: Internet Punks I try not to be a dick but sometimes its needed when your getting beat by a cards that never should have been played or called to river gets me mad most I can see why they play the hand the way they did...its the ones that r morons that just call because that need to be yelled at!LOL I look at it this way....u have to respect the game of "poker" and the people u face on the table you give respect u get respect but most dont see it that way they will call at the same time knowing they have to get "lucky" or the "I dont care what u got" players. I will continue to give havoc to those "morons" or as I like to call them "bamboozelers" or "googans". I give respect where it has been earned.

| | | | Re: Internet Punks I make it a point not to berate players at the table and I'll quickly jump to the defense of anyone who is being berated. Berating players, however good it feels at the time, is an information leak. Not only are you advertising that your emotions can be used against you but your outburst might cause a loose player (and others) to tighten up out of shame. If someone is about to shoot my cash cow, you can be certain I'll try to stop that from happening.
I'm not denying that suck-outs hurt like hell and that some players deserve to be yelled and screamed at, but let someone else do it... you need to be the calm and experienced player who knows how to gather information, not reveal it. IMHO, being able to take horrible beats as if it happens all the time (in fact, it may!!) is the well recognized mark of a solid, experienced player.

| | | | Re: Internet Punks I am considered by many an Internet Punk but i dont bring it to the level that this player brought it to. I play under the name bigbaddan328 on pokerstars and i only talk trash when i get a real bad beat , it helps alleviate anger and what I say I hope no one takes it personally but if you see me lose to a bad beat while im playin in a sitngo with me ill appologize now if you get offended. | |

| | | | Re: Internet Punks On the third day playing on PS, I was fortunate enough to make the final 27 in a low buy-in tourney. With A,Ks I raised the blind all in and this "internet punk" called with A,Qo. Needless to say my hand held up, he was knocked out and for the next half hour this guy followed my every move and sarcastically remarked on EACH and EVERY one of them. At the time I DID NOT know about the "chat off" button and sat there reading all this and getting REAL MAD.
The highlight of this guy's rant was this: (I paraphrase but u will get the point) ThreeD, give me your phone number, I'm going to come up there, hunt you down and shoot you (he was from Montana and I believed him). Unsettled me for sure.
In short, I learned all the buttons, never comment to anyone who has just lost any kind of hand, never reply to a "punk, but will carry on a civilized conversation, trying to inject a sense of humour and pride in one's own play. Seems to work for me but I still get a little nervous when there's a vehicle behind me with Montana plates.

| | | | Re: Internet Punks I can certainly appreciate your apprehension, however, if it's any consolation at all (and trust me, I speak from a wide range of experience), the only difference between an internet punk and a real life one is the medium used. Internet punks hide behind a PC and love to 'terrorize' others. Next time, do like I do. Invite him to your area. Give'em a real, honest-to-goodness location and a date and time. Then, in your most cordial, sinister fashion.....wish him well.
The last one said "you're nuts".........
"you're right!" as I closed out PokerStars for the evening. ;D
