Default What do you do....in real life?

I was curious about what other non-professional poker players do, in real life. I figure since I'm asking....I'd start.

I am a 25 year veteran police officer and have served in Uniform Patrol, Rescue, Narcotics, Homicide and in my current assignment, as Commander of our Technological Support Division, where I am responsible for 25 servers and slightly over 1,000 PCs. I have a side business developing web sites and recently sold (at a nice profit thank you) my very first e-commerce site (softwaresellers.net). I don't like cameras so one of the only photographs of me to ever appear online (a few years old) includes my better half and is posted below.

We have a 29 year old son who is a test pilot in the USAF and a 22 year old daughter who is in college. THAT says a lot as I am a 10th grade dropout (and no, I'm not proud of that fact - it was a necessity at the time). :'(

I once had my pilot's license but gave it up due to the high cost to maintain it and I love to scuba dive. I'm self-taught on everything except the flying and diving.

What about you?

Thanks for your taking the plunge to start this thread. My name is Paul and I live in Port Huron, Michigan which is right across the International Blue Water Bridge from Sarnia, Cananda that connects the Great Lakes shipping lanes to the Atlantic ocean.

You can see my online resume, which is a lot less typing and tells all about me, by clicking on this link. http://www.lucky-puppy.com/resume.htm

I really enjoy playing Holdem online and occaisionally at the tables in real life. However in real life I am an easy read as I can't help smiling like a pig in mud whenver I get good cards. So, online allows me to keep a poker face.

I am single (divorced since 1990) and raised my 2 kids by myself since then. They are now grown up and I am due to be a grandpa this February.

It's really been a work of love to build this website and forum and I look forward to watching it grow so we can all together build a responsible place to network with other players who love the rush of the game.

I do need help with creative ideas and feel free to PM or email me admin@ace10.com anytime with your help or comments.

I am very excited to see how the first year of the BIG SLICK'S WORLD CUP goes and I think it will be a lot of fun once we get the bugs worked out.

Good Luck and Have Fun

Im a 25 yr old with a GED and I work at a pizza place in Grand Ledge, Mi. that is near Lansing the capitol for those of you who r slow I started playing poker 1 yr ago after I met a girl who played and her sister also they made good money at it so I started to play and lose! lol then I took a step and started to read books on poker....the rest is history. Poker pays for most of my extras in life, job pays the bills. I play online almost everyday on either Pokerstars or Absolute poker. I try to play live at Mt. Pleasent or in Detroit when I have the time both are over an hour away. I hold 2 home games weekly with anywhere from 8-18 guys tourney style NL holdem. I plan to start college in a few months but going to wait till I visit Vegas for Xmas it will be my first trip and if I do as good as I plan on it I may move there to go to school, deal cards as my job, and play tourneys to get my name out there. I was tought by a 2 women who r great at poker and a guy who finished 99th this yr in WSOP and he is first person in the HISTORY of the Bellagio Hotel weekly tourney to win it BACK TO BACK. check cardplayer magazine his name is Steve Bartlett... well I have one sister no sig. other right now in my life so its really just family, work, and poker. See ya all on the green felt, Smokin

I am a 33 year old from Massachusetts..Play alot of "friendly" tournaments with friends. I try to get to Foxwoods once every 2 months. I am a Prepress/IT manager at a printing company that is based out of Chicago with a plant in the Boston area. I realize the question wasn't asked of me but I had to point out two that sure helped me.

Doyle Brunson's Super System

and

No-Limit Texas Hold'em : The New Player's Guide to Winning Poker's Biggest Game by Tom McEvoy annd Brad Daugherty

Both excellent books in their own right. Incidentally, I got both off of eBay for just a few dollars.

I am a 48 year old business owner with 3 kids. Been divorced for about 8 years now. Raised my kids on my own. My boys are grown and out of the house, but my 20 year old daughter (pictured with me below) still lives with me. I enjoy playing poker, but am probably the worst player on this site. Getting better with time. Watch out!

Jim
