Default Playing Tight?

I know the term Playing Tight is thrown around a lot. What is the way you consider to play tight? For me it means seeing the flop only if i have connected same suited cards, pairs above 7 and AK, AQ only.

Well, that's pretty tight. I've always been told that I was a 'tight player' but I see that perceptions of what is tight can be different.

My idea of playing tight is I'll see the flop on any pair below 66 barring a raise. If someone raises before me, I lay down. Of course I'll play AA, AK, AQ...and depending on how the others are playing (loose or tight) at the time, I may opt to see what I can do with AJ. KK I'll play and I get very careful with QQ and especially JJ. I still like to play A 10 even in 'tight-mode' but it does depend on my stack at the time.

i limp in with all PP 99 or lower I will only call a double of what blind is if PP is under 77. I try not to get too involved in pots with 99 1010 or JJ they seem to get killed more often than not but r always worth a look at right price. AJ, KQ, A10, KJ, all very scary hands unless you got the nuts.Tight play is usually seeing less than 20% of flops. I average about %15-18% in tourneys i loosen up in a live game. everything depends on what position u r in whos in the pot and how people play at your table with ANY hand.

Hard to sum up an exact answer in a few papagraphs, someone earlier said playing tight is seeing 20% or less of flops. To me that sounds about right. Or you could say only playing Group 4 hands or better, Group 3 even.

To generalize one's play based only on cards held is simplifying somewhat. Position is just as important, and if in a tourney or sit & go then the size of your stack and opponent's stacks must be factored in.
