I go to Atlantic City a lot, not to play poker (at least not up until my next trip) but to play blackjack. And for a diversion I'll play some video poker just to unwind.

Played one of those multi-play machines that you play one hand but draw three times to it, it was I think they call it a double-double bonus. Quads paid more than on a regular machine, and quad 2's,3's and 4's paid double. Quad Aces paid quadruple what quad 5-K would pay.

This was about 3 in the morning afte rplaying BJ all night, I played maybe 5 minutes and then got A-A-A-A-x...so I hit the quad Aces on all three lines without even drawing. It was only a 50 cent machine, the payouts for quads were 200, 400 and 800. So I got 800 x 3 = 2,400 divided by 2 equals $1,200.

Doesn't nearly match up to winning 20K but since you posted about video poker this came to mind. I consider myself a good blackjack player, but it was one of those nights, I was down about $500 and was ready to call it a night...so going to bed up $700 made me feel a whole lot better!

And in every casino I've ever been in, when someone close to you hits it big, everyone is happy for the person. Well at this time of night there was only two of us playing on a bank of about 8 machines, what's the other guy do? Mutters stuff like "Look at this lucky SOB"...well, in that case I hope I was playing a machine he had just gotten off of!
