| | | | I'll start the ball rolling I am sure you have more woeful tales to tell, but I was down to the last 200 players in the finals of the main event in the WCOOP. This was a BIG payday tourney with hundreds of thousands of dollars at stake. I was dealt the 8 and 9 of hearts. The bet was the BB and nobody raised. The flop came 10 and J of hearts with a 6 of spades. So, I am sitting with an open-ended straight flush. I am feeling good to at least pull a flush. I bet 6,000 and everyone folded except for 1 person who matched my bet. The turn was an Q of hearts! I had made my straight flush. I went all in and so did my competition. I figured he probably had the ace of hearts and perhaps something like a 3 or 4 of hearts. When the cards were flipped he was holding the A and K of hearts! a royal flush.... I was stunned beyond belief and it was one of those situations that you just can't believe the chip stack is sliding away from you. I finished 221 and that is the end of my story.

| | | | Re: I'll start the ball rolling Ok, here is my *whine* for the day.
I was in a $5.00 NL tourney where 600+ players started. I was in 46th position (top 21 paid) with a stack of slightly more than $35,000. In late position, I looked at my cards and saw AKs, so I bet $12,000 or about 4 times the size of the blind at that time. The player right behind me and one before the blind held about 55,000 chips and went all-in.
Of course, I figured she was holding AA or AK at the very least. I pondered for a minute and shoved all-in. We were the only two left in the pot so the cards were turned over. I was astounded and gratified (so I thought) to see her holding 62s. The flop came and I'll be damned if she didn't hit 62 for two pair! I didn't even pair the board and caught only one suit.
Well, she caught hell from other players and she mistook the subtle jabs as compliments and extended "ty, ty". It was all I could do to keep my fingers off the keyboard.....but I did and limped off to the consoling "bad beat" ringing in my ears.
AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHH!
Well, ty...now I feel better. :P

Well, ty...now I feel better. :P | Dude, that is totally bogus! The only thing I can think of is that she maybe thinks 62 are her lucky cards or something. That would have really pissed me off as well. Whatcha gonna do when numbskulls pull that kind of crap?

| | | | Re: I'll start the ball rolling We played a live game on Saturday...13 of us and a $25 buy in. Wasn't getting very good cards but I played when I could and held my own. I get down to the final six and of course grab the big blind out of the gate, which was 1,600. This basically left me with about 1,000. The cards are dealt and I look down at K 10 off suit. The guy to the right bets out, 3 others fold and the guy to my left raises so I go all in. The Right gut goes all in and the left guy calls. Mr. Right had J 10 suited and Mr. Left has 77. The flop comes down K 10 6 so now figuring I am going to get it I breathe a sigh of relief. Wouldn't you know it...The Turn slaps a 7 at me and it was over. Lucky bastard!!!
Thanks for listening...

| | | | Re: I'll start the ball rolling I know it's part of the game but I've come to dread the river. I'm to the point where I swear under my breath when I cross the 'ole Muddy (Mississippi River). J/K for all you shrinks that are reading this and salivating over the possibility of acquiring a new client! :P | |

| | | | Re: I'll start the ball rolling Unfortunately my first post on this board comes in the crying towel...
I usually play Sit n Go's, every now and then I dabble in a tournament but usually don't have the time to play it out properly, or I just do something stupid and get knocked out.
Played in the $10 tourney, started with about 460 players and I soon moved up to about 20th... was quite happy with my progress and took it pretty easy careful not to make that fatal mistake. Had a couple of great hands, ie 2 players going all in with KQ and QQ when I held AA and pretty soon I was fluctuating between first and second with about 150 people remaining. I had around 18k in chips.
Right about now I was feeling good about myself, this changed when all of a sudden I lost my Internet connection. It just died. I have a broadband ADSL connection, not sure what you guys call it, but I'm in Australia. Frantically I tried to reconnect but it didn't work. I called my ISP support... and by the time I had been sitting in a hold queue for half an hour I was going mad.
Cutting a long story short when the service finally came back online I had 6.5k in chips, had lost nearly 2 thirds of it and slipped down from 1st to 50th of 55.
Perhaps due to the frustration, I lashed out a little bit and went all in with any decent cards I got, figured I needed to double up as the blinds were pretty high. I doubled up, then doubled up again. All of a sudden I was back in it. My head settled I started playing good poker again and managed to move my way back into 5th place with 26 players left. Boom... Internet connection goes out again.
I'm out of the game for what seems like an eternity ( though it probably wasn't) and finally get reconnected, in 15th place with 21 players left. Scraping the barrel. Tourney gets down to 18 players and I've had no cards... i get KQ of clubs and go all in, hoping to take the blinds or the pot if I get called... get called by JJ. The flop hits my queen, but all three cards are diamonds... my oponent is on a flush draw. This wouldn't be a crying towel story had he not hit his flush.
Not crying about the last hand, JJ superior to KQ, just a very frustrating night of poker instead of what should have been an enjoyable one for me. Even so, was happy to make my first foray into the money of a tournament.
Thanks for listening. | |

| | | | Re: I'll start the ball rolling My hat is off to you! That is the most aggravating and frustrating situation I have ever heard of! I have lost my connection in the past, but was always able to get it reset in a few minutes. Although once I lost power to the house for 9 hours.
Maybe this is a good reason to have a spare PC hooked up to a dialup connection just in case of something like that happening?
???

| | | | Bad Beat for Chris Ferguson I was back and forth from PokerStars and FullTilt last night playin a Sit and Go one one and a No Limit game w/ Chris Ferguson at a full table. I'm dealt pocket 4's in the big blind and just limp in. The flop hits 4, 3, K. Checks come around and I bet $10. Everyone folds except for Jesus himself, who in turn re-raises me! I call to see the turn. It hits Ace.
I'm thinking I'm ahead with my set so I bet into Chris again. He re-raises me all-in with his stack of $300. I call it naturally--and low and behold Ferguson us holding 2 5 suited! Only thing separating him and my $250 in the pot is the river. It pairs the 3's. My boat takes out Ferguson...and well, lets just say he didn't talk to me the rest of the night. See ya online all-->look for AceHigh Pino on both sites! | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread
