Default How/why do they make these calls???

I've taken about as much of this as I can stand. I could understand this call if I had shown down some weak holdings prior. But I hadn't. He's was defending his blind is the answer I expect to hear from some of you. Well pffffffffff, what BS

Only 67,500 chips in play, most were on the other table I guess. I attached my HH for whole game. Is there something wrong with my table image?

Savage, I didn't go through the HH, but I know exactly what he was thinking when he did it. He was thinking because you shoved on the button instead of raising that you were doing it with ATC. In his opinion, he was getting almost 2-1 with a hand he thinks has a good chance of being ahead.

I can say with certainty that he's either playing to win the tourney or not thinking about the prize money at all

I was on a blinds steal and had the same mindset. Win or nothing. So I got what I wanted I guess!

Savage, there is really nothing you could have done here but pray you hit. Everyone at this table has an M that's less than 5 so truthfully, everyone should have been shoving with any two decent cards.

For whatever reason, your whole table is short-stacked and was really going to be just a battle of who hits what cards and when. In this case, you didn't. Tough break but go get 'em next time.

ultimately some people are happy to get a roll of the dice to determine whether they double up or not. 30-60% all are fine to them. If you had a low pp and were stealing the pot then he has even chance, if you have aq he has ok chances.

The other thing is that whilst I think his call was poor he might have seen you raise one other time and it stood out and took your play as pot stealing. The stakes have already got quite high.

Thing is though you were not a huge favorite on the hand as you never will be if someone calls you with a baby suited ace. This isnt critising your play but you are going to get called sometimes and you will lose sometimes to slightly inferior holdings. I find when i play enough quality poker then I forget about the bad beats and just watch my bankroll increase. As long as you are going into situations with the best of it the profits will come and the frustrations will lessen. you can be sucked out in 4 tourneys and then win the next one and come second in the one after that and it is soon all forgotten.

Ben i know what your saying, and I was on a complete steal attempt here. My table image was solid and really was making the move that so many people have been telling me that I'm not aggressive enough etc ad infinitum. i just don't see a positive ev by him calling here but he made the call and caught up. No biggie. was steamin at the time of the post. hope to see you tomorrow
