Awesome, JayC170

So if you're deep stacked, say 20 or 30 BB, how much do you raise by when stealing the blinds?

Thanks.

If you are concerned with people calling your big hands with junk, I would suggest staying away from turbo tourneys. People are more likely to shove with junk in these because they feel there small stack won't last long anyways. It really doesn't matter what level you play at, as the donks are spread out at every level. I have been playing mostly at the $20 level recently and trust me, the play can be just as bad as the $1.20 level....

I always make my standard raise when deep stacked...3 x the Big blind (whether i have AA or 82o)...Just to disguise my hand basically

I know many players that also vary it compeltly randomly between 2.5 and 3 x the big blind... (e.g. they'll make it 276 with blinds at 50/100...then next hand 291 at teh same blind level)

Both methods are fine IMO...the only advice il give is that you should never be raising 4 x or more (IMHO)...say for example your in MP with KQ s...

you make it 300 to go with blinds at 50/100....now say the BB had AQ...they move all in over the top and your ofcourse forced to fold....now if you made it 400 to go (4 x the BB)....your risking 100 extra chips and the 100 extra is gonna make no difference atall to the hand above.,..your oppenent is still going to shove all in and all your doing is losing an extra 100...your oppenents calling/re-raising ranges are not gonna change...so dont risk more chips than you have to..because in the long run this will cost you a tonne of chips and is very - EV (minus expectation)

Lurock and 7 - Thanks alot, your kind words are appreciated : )

Very good point Bryan, Turbos are much more agressive both pre and post flop because the pressure of the escalating blinds is much higher (people feel forced to act much sooner than they realistically have to)....non-turbos are the way to go for someone with a skill edge IMO (unless ofcourse you can adapt to these games and gain an edge)...

Another great point, I too am playing at the $20 level and you do get some very poor players...the only difference IMO is that the higher you move up, the better players at the level are more skilled....but the donks stay the same : )
