| | | | A Question to all THF Members I have entered a couple of threads on "Online Thoroughbred Racing" in the Lounge Forum.
My question is would you be interested in a category for "Online Horse Racing" with member input and strategies. It is very high cash rewards if you know what you are doing, with a lot less luck and competition than poker. The Top owner has made just under $900,000.00 and the top horse at just under $38,000.00. In "Online Horse Racing" you don't bet on the horses, you own them, train them, race them, buy them and sell them for real money.
If you would be interested please vote in the above poll to see if we can get this off the ground.
Thanks

| | | | I don't see a poll, but a sticky in the lounge would be fine with me! I really hope you do well Crapshoot. I can see you are studying and enthusiastic about it. I personally will stick to poker, but would look forward to reading updates on how everyone is doing with their horses. | |

| | | | I don't see a reason why there should be an entire room dedicated to a single non-poker related topic. Everyone can feel free to post about this virtual horse-racing in the lounge if they'd like, or go to a forum that's dedicated to a more broad range of online gambling (look at it anyway you like, but that's exactly what this is).
You don't see any rooms dedicated to blackjack tournaments, and that's probably the closest non-poker related topic you could have on a forum such as THF. Hence, I don't see any reason for a room such as this.

| | | | Whist I understand what you're saying Mars I don't see any harm in having a separate room if people are interested in discussing this. It could add some member interest and a little variety.
Members have discussed all kinds of things in here.

Hence, I don't see any reason for a room such as this. | Your wrong Mars, the online racing is a lot more complicated than Poker and so to do it right it would need various threads. Why should a poker Forum have a room for racing, because a lot of poker players are interested in horse racing and the prize money is also a great amount without all the luck, there is much higher skill to luck ratio in HR. Why not just go to a dedicated site then, because their is a camaraderie already developed here and I doubt if another site has a Mars. If the attention on the HR was done here then their would be a lot of strategy geared towards poker players thinking, you say blackjack...why would you want to get a game with even a higher amount of luck. How does it compare to poker...A lot higher $ win money to horse owners vs win $ to poker players. It is also an escape when the cards are rolling bad for you. | |

| | | | I wouldnt say that it is a lot more complicated, they are both complicated things but poker has much more variations which make it one of the most complicated things in the world.

| | | | I'm still curious to know how much money the top players are actually making as it still looks like simply a grind (just like sng poker players). The top money earner in this horse deal is just under $900,000, but it's just only just over $14 earned per race on average (well over 60,000 races run). Plus that isn't $900,000 profit by any means, it's $900,000 in prize money. Take out all entry fees and all fees associated with the hundreds of horses the guy has and what is that $900K down to? Things I would like to know before considering getting involved. | |

Things I would like to know before considering getting involved. | They don't divulge that Fink...the top owner has probably as many G2 horses as he has G1 horses...yes you might be talking 60,000 races, but G2 races are at a lower nomination fee, starting @ $2...the highest G1 nomination fees are $30, but those are for Championship Qualifiers and Championship races are free, you have to Qualify. He only ran, something like 32 Championship Races out of the 60,000 races. There are a number of free races besides the Barrier Races when you are evaluating or training your horse in a real race and those are counted as real races but are free...plus there is money made/lost at the Auctions, which are not included in these figures...some horses are sold at Auction that have never ran in a race and others are purchased and re-sold for profit without even running them once. There are also G1 Division races which are $25 and less than $25 for G2 horses. The one horse that I talked about was bought for $15 at the ring sale and sold at Auction for $7,600 after it turned out to be a great winner, That was not bought or sold by the top owner but the horse is still running at something like 6 or 7 years old.
It is more like the real thing than it is a game and you have many of the virtual owners that own and race real horses. I don't have all the answers...hell I only have a few .1% answers, but so far it does look interesting and it is fun.
Also you have a couple of the same owners that are winning $20,000 to $25,000 per month, every month.
It's no gravy train...it's work...but fun work...just like poker. Your races only take less than 2 minutes but you put in a lot of work preparing...in poker you can spend 6 hours in a tournament, but have little preparation work.
It makes no difference to me, I'm in it to try it out and have some fun trying regardless of what the THF viewpoint is. My interest is that the skill/luck factor is a lot higher than it is in poker.
