No, I don't change attitude, it's the increased variance in an MTT. You are much more likely to hit suckouts in an MTT because there are more people taking unreasonable gambles, so the number of suckouts is higher. Yesterday in an MTT someone reraised me all in with j2 off on the flop with no pair, no draw. I had a pair and the nut flush draw. I knew he played like that so I figured I was winning and called. I was right. I was winning. Then a jack hit. You get that much less often in single table SnGs.

No, it is not scared poker. It is increased variance. Is this scared poker? In an MTT yesterday I get raised allin on the flop by J2 off, no pair, no draw. I know the guy does that, so with a pair and the nut flush draw I call. I was right. I was winning. Then a J hits. and I'm out. That is not scared poker, I could have easily laid the hand down. It just happens less often in single table SnGs.

Sorry, net problem I couldn't see the first version originally.

Yes bad beats are a part of poker and th variance that goes with it, but thats not what i was referring to when i said scared poker. And i dont believe you will receive more suckouts in a tourny that you would in any sng, and to tell you the truth ive seen the same suckouts in limit and nl holdem ring games that i have in mtt's and variance.

Besides not playing in a tourny because your worried about receiving a suckout is the absolutely wrong way of looking at it and if you do think of poker in this way, then i suggest you stop gambling!

Great guide Jro, the only thing i'd recommend adding is something about ICM and +EV moves.

The main flaw i see in many SNGs players games are their lack of willingness to shove hands late. SNGs are all about playing tight as hell at the start and then shove folding shorthanded with high blinds.

for example, say the blinds are 200-400 and you have 2,000. 5 players left. You are dealt 8 6 o UTG. It is actually correct to push all in here, and its a flaw in your game if you fold. Now if you were UTG+1 and UTG had even limped you should fold. Its all about being the first one to enter the pot.

another example: you have 1,200 in chips....blinds 100 and 200. it is folded to you on the button. You should be shoving extremely wide here (like 90+% of hands). 64 o (slightly tighter if BB is loose and/or big stacked) and up. I haven't checked my ICM calculator but i think shoving here is +EV with any 2 cards.....

I only have one thing to add.

If I had your money, I would burn mine.

Ok, maybe more than one thing or two.

Does sharkscope really keep track of all play or just money play?

Being as aggressive as it is alluded here really the more advantageous way to play poker?

good post Jro

I think though that the main difference between a profitable player and a non profitable player is discipline

That is the main point, then to become a " GOOD" player - instinct, focus and determination and hunger are huge.

It is true you need a basic strategy to adopt - like the one you suggest but it is these other things that players need to focus on most

That said you already factor that in your guide - it is just not - how good a player can i be but how good will i play just now.
