Default SnG Strategy

Obviously one has to make decisions based on fact and the decision/fact will be based on the SnG buy-in. I would like to get the members feel on these facts and might make up some sort of chart after they are all done as some sort of a guide. Since the buy-in amount is a major factor, I have decided to take a middle of the range $30 SnG and will break it down into segments such as Pre-flop, flop etc. To start with I will 1st start off with the Pre-flop and I feel that there are 15 facts to consider before making play. Pleas post your feelings on any or all of the 15 facts, under any conditions that you wish, but please post the conditions:

Control of Pre-Flop Play $30 SnG
  1. Pocket Cards
  2. Blind Levels
  3. Position
  4. Stack Size
  5. Number of Opponents Still in SnG
  6. Tournament Position
  7. Play already made
  8. Number of players already committed to hand
  9. Stack sizes of players already committed
  10. Stack sizes of yet to play players
  11. Tournament position of committed players
  12. Tournament position of yet to play players
  13. Size of Field Seeking
  14. Opponents looking to play against
  15. Aggression in the game

One of the recommendations I feel is If one has high suited connectors or high suited cards there is no need to try to isolate since if you hit a flush or your cards you have a good chance of taking down the hand even in a high numbered field, therefore why risk the chips and let them all come in if they want to. This pertains to a general category, not where you are in a move position against a single opponent or a stack size consideration etc...such as anything out of the ordinary. This also would apply to any position and has the possibility of generating a large pot. You also will be able to withstand medium raises if needed to, but don't raise for isolation or power image, just let the pot build.

You have posted excellent points however position and stack size relative to blinds is #1 and 2 to me.

I also highly recommend anyone playing SNGs read Moshman's book

i feel as though some of the "facts" you've posted for sng's are somewhat irrelavent and in low buy-in sngs one should focus more on the opponents play because at these levels there are hardly more than 1 or 2 other solid players at the table.

Identify the weak players with holes in their game, exploit them, and accumulate chips that way.

Play tight til you get to the bubble/money depending on stack size, then let your aggresion pay off.

thats my simple and winning formula. and it works!

also one big mistake people make in these is CALLING an all in where at best your a coinflip early on. Its better to fold here and be left with a thousand chips than to call a worse player who might happen to have a huge hand.

Keep your skill advantage and outplay them other hands. after all its better to make a bad fold and have chips than to make a bad call and be out!
