| when to bluff loose players Playing Online | |

| | | | when to bluff loose players I play against mostly loose ametures. I play tight in response. For example, they play a lot of ace rag and have very few reads.
When do you bluff these people?
I currently bluff:
1) at the continuation bet after a raise (this works great)
2) If it's checked around twice, no scare card comes, and I have middle pair (of corse it depends on the situation)
3) I've started to do little bets when I have any type of value hand - just quick small best at the tighter players and many times they fold.
I'm really looking for more opportunities to bluff, especially online.

| | | | well if they are truly LOOSE, they will call the majority of your bluffs with any type of hand from bottom pair to straight and flush draws or re-draws with overs.
So my advice to an amateur player in this game would be to not bluff at loose players as much as you are talking about b/c more often than not in the loose games you describe(which i am guessing are low limits) its not often that profitable to make a lot of bluff plays.
Now I'm not saying don't bluff, I'm just answering your vague question with a general answer. Honestly i need more info like your position, their position, preflop play, # of players in hand, etc. to correctly answer this question. So you will have to gather this info yourself to correctly devise whether or not a bluff is a profitable play in that situation.

| | | | Let me be specific then and take one example.
Live Free Tourney. Say I'm in the big blind with 72o. I check and the flop comes 47J rainbow. The other 2 opponents are usually calling with draws and they love ace rag. They play about twice as many hands as me, as I usually don't play with anything worse than KJo outside of the blinds, and they commonly play hands like K8o.
I check. They check. The turn is a 5. How much should I bet? a small bet? 1/2 the pot?
Repeat the same senereo except it checks twice around and I have nothing. It's to me and they're not slow playing. Should I make a small bet and try to take down the pot. They'll call if they have anything descent. Should I bet? How much?

| | | | 5 is kind of a scare card especially in a freeroll. Im not going to comment because the fact that it is a freeroll, throw the book out the window, anything can and often does happen.

| | | | Last to act after the flop is good in general, but not so many chips you are going to be crucified by finding a slow player reraising. At low limits any bluff that is going to cripple you or break you is probably bad because somebody will almost certainly call. | |

| | | | you bluff the loose passive ones, the ones that often fold to cbets.
you let the loose aggressive ones bluff you. You really shouldn't try to outbluff a LAG. Just check/call them down.

| | | | Yea im with Ferm and Crapshoot on this one, let the loose agressive players bluff you, they'll pay you off on your big hand after they waste half their stack trying to knock you off the nuts.
As a general rule, it's much better to Bluff the tight passive players.

| | | | When im up against a real loose player i will tighten up my game immediately. I ll let them bluff me a couple times and take a few small pots, its fine. Then I ll string em up and take the big pots from them by just being patient. Patience is a very important tool to have in poker, U must have patience to be able to play this game the way it is supposed to be played. | |

| | | | After reading idiot's guide to poker tells, I found out that most of my opponents are fish. It seems that they are very common at the lower levels and freerolls, right?
I can see that you would want to bluff a rock or a weak player, but say you're up against two half-way weak fish. When is the cue to bluff?
I can sense the players' hands now but only about 1/3 of the time if I'm familiar with the players. Sometimes I'm right on, usually I'm pretty good at telling, sometimes I'm off. I'm sometimes off with people that play every hand, they'll get trips and I won't be able to tell.
I'd like to add some bluffing when I'm guessing they will fold, but I'm new to bluffing except I almost always do a continuation bet, which does miracles against the fish, they are calling stations but they're more weak than loose.
When I stop looking for tells, I lose.
Looking for advice. | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread
