Default is position important here?

Hello,

I play 2c/5c games. No matter what position I'm in, I never play a hand worse than AJ.

I'm slowly improving my tells.

I always raise except when checking from the big blind. Because of my continuation bet, I see the turn.

So I'm one card away from all in, and I think that's why position is not important?

I'm curious what you guys' comments are...

First of all I have no idea what the PHUCK you're mumbling about here. lol,

However I dont really need to read your thread to answer the question. Yes, position is ALWAYS important, no matter what you have or what your opponent has. It is important because if you are in late position you're gaining information on what your opponent could have depending on how he plays it. If you are in early position you have very little information about your opponent's hand because you havent seen him act yet. If you're in late position, a guy checks it to you from early position, he's probably holding nothing so you bet and take down the pot. Standard play. (just be careful of the check raise). The list on how to use position is a very long and complicated one and you will soon become well aquinted with it.

Now, I strongly reccomend that you play a few more hands when you are in late postion. Suited connectors are ok, 78 suited, JTs, and a medium strenght ace like A8 A9 AT is ok to play (when you play a bit more you will start getting a bit more comfortable playing all kinds of hands from late position, because poker is a situational game). If you're gonna play that tight it will take you very long to make any money, (especially at micro stakes). I also reccomend that you stay away from cash tables and stick to SNGs and Tourneys at micro level. There is alot more money to be made playing Heads Up matches and tourneys than there is in cash tables at micro stake level.

Anyways, hope that helps.

Yes, that's why I posted. To find this out. Do you mean to play 78s and JTs, A8,A9,A10 when there are a couple of callers ahead of me, or only if it's folded around to me? There's almost always a couple of callers ahead of me.

weikel, tj qj at a9 kq kj, hand s like these are good enough to play late in position bud, u can raise if u want to , or take a flop and see how it helps ur hand. U have the adavantage of seing what the players do in front of u in the hand since u are in late position , this is to your advantage. U definitely should start playing more hands than just AJ or better if u want to become a better player. gl

Best thing is to search the web for "Starting Hand Table". Don't be a blind slave to what you find, they are only guide lines. And read the text that is with the table and make sure the table applies to the table size and betting structure that you play as there are significant changes depending on those.
