Default Simple Post!

Laying a good hand down has never ever gotten anyone knocked out of a tournament, however calling with those same hands has cost them many and many of tournaments.

Don't be afraid to lay them down!

THF Player of the Year
Can you give a few examples of situations of when to lay down a good hand. And how good of a hands would we be laying down?

No...but I can tell you about many many good hands that I should have laid down...lol Phil Hellmuth is the master of laying down good hands when they need to be laid down, I have seen him make some unbelievable lay downs.

TPTK isn't that great a hand - remember, the average winning hand in hold'em is two pair. Cat, in your hand, villain raised the flop, and then went all in on the turn - do you really think you could have him beat at that point? Of course not.

A REALLY good laydown would be something like QQ preflop (did it in one of the league games, I believe), or folding a flopped set to a flopped straight (not an obvious one, but on a board of 689 or something).

I remember that lay down mars, it was good but I had 5-raised the pot. There was no way QQ was good and I think that was pretty obvious.

The best laydown Ive ever seen was Doyle laying down QQ to Chip Reese in the HORSE FT a few years back. Man oh man, I was amazed, Chip had KK!!
