The top online rebuy players use the "donkey rebuy" method but they do it with reason. They don't push every single hand and while they like to see huge stacks at their tables, their main goal is to build their own stack. They don't push in late position when the table has folded and they don't call all in with mediocre cards to single players. They get their chips in, regardless of their cards, on large pots... because any two cards can win, and losing doesn't hurt them.

Example:
1st hand of a rebuy and you are in the BB with 3000 chips.
4 players have went all in and you have 23, what do you do?
If you chose to fold, it was a bad move.
You call, risking 3000 chips to win a 15,000 chip pot... if you lose the hand you simply rebuy and still have your 3000 chips.

Once you have a stack you can start picking and choosing your plays, preferably against numerous short stack (3000ish chips) all ins while avoiding the other big stacks (unless you have a big hand of course). This way you give yourself a shot at adding big chips onto your already decent stack while only risking a smallish percentage of your own chips.

Rebuys are basically the only thing I've been playing for the last year. While I'm far from an expert (I only just made my first rebuy final table a week ago), I do feel I've gotten a good grasp on the game.

I quoted Billy's post because I have a fairly similar strategy. First, I feel it is very important to get a good sized stack after the first hour. This stack will allow you to wait for the hands to come to you while you can also dabble around with mediocre hands. I shoot for a 10,000 chip stack by the end of the first hour, so basically 8000 plus the addon.

I hate spending a lot of money. If I keep losing and losing, I will abandon the tournament and stop rebuying. This decision basically just comes from a gut feeling rather than a specific money standard. But if I see potential at a table, I'll keep playing, which leads me to the tables filled with the so-called "donks."

I love the tables where during the first hour, almost every hand is all-in preflop. That is how I play so I like to know that I can and will get calls when I go all-in. I don't play the all-in game with weak hands like some might, but I am more than welcome to those that do.
