Default great experiences at CardCrusade

I know I'm stealing RacingDog's thunder, but CardCrusade has been a great place for me to play. I've won money in five straight tournaments and finished 1st in three of them. There are regular $50 freerolls to create a bankroll and then lots of 2-10 player sit n gos for between $1+5c and $20+$1. Except for about four sharks who stick to the higher-buyin tournaments, the level of opponents is generally very, very soft. I just had my worst run of flops in the last two weeks and still finished 1st because I was the only one of 6 players using deception and creativity. The 2nd place guy was the most passive and submissive player I've ever come up against, but even though he was on an incredible run of good luck, I managed to knock him out by getting lucky just once--on the final hand. No joking, guys, I was bottom stack and had 450 chips left while everyone else had at least 1,500 at one point. If you know how to play, this place is somewhere you can make easy cash.

The site permits deposits but also allows you to subscribe--$15 a month for free ring or free tournaments, or $25 a month for free both. I plan to take the tournament subscription option so that I can eventually cash out.

The site permits any member, paid or not, to create custom sit n gos with minimum buyins of at least $5. I haven't investigated how players are paid, but I assume it's not out of the creator's funds.

All that said, the site is very, very raw and seems to be under construction. There is even a forum there where you can suggest to management how you'd like the site improved. The chat-based customer service is always away, but the email support is speedy but rather dopey (although I guess the dopey part is not uncommon among online poker rooms).

I'm couplecraft on CardCrusade. Hope to see you guys there! And, Fonz, I hope you don't consider this an advertisement. I have an absolutely 100% arm's length relationship with the site and stand to gain nothing except stiffer competition from telling you guys about it.

Steal whatever you like mate, it makes a change from my BB. Haven't been on the same table there yet, could be fun when it happens. I've only played there on 4 days, freerolls and the odd $1 MTT (only 5 cent fee!!!) and I'm up to $35 already. If I didn't have that damn bonus to clear at Cake I would be there more often.

RD, what is your pokername on CardCrusade? I'd like to add you to my buddy list.

One activity on CardCrusade that's kinda fun is the lobby chat. There are two or three idiots who recently got banned, but otherwise the people are polite and friendly. Because it's a startup site, cash tournaments can be hard to find enough people for at certain times of day, and some of us troll the lobby for fellow players or just shoot the breeze. I've even made one email contact.

If I hadn't been suckered into a $5 HU match against a shark--which was a valuable learning experience--I would be up to about $25 in pure winnings. I started playing freerolls to build a bankroll and then turned to cash tournaments and have yet to make a deposit, although I do intend to pay the $15 for a tournament subscription in the next few days.

Be warned, people: The site is very, very raw and, although the actual poker games are smooth, many of the peripheral features are glitchy. They're writing and constantly updating their own software and are not part of any network.

Hope to see some folks there.

I don't want to be The Guy Who Plugged CardCrusade All Day, because I have an arm's length relationship with them; but, despite its many flaws, it has become my poker site of choice. I started in freerolls and have been playing cash tournaments for the past four or five days without needing to make a deposit. Most cash tournaments are sit n gos and it can be difficult to scare up enough players. The buyins and fees range from $1+5c to $10+50c, the table sizes from 2 to 200. Because of so few players available, the most common tourneys are HU and 6-seater SH games. I started off with $1 HU and SH games and have slowly progressed to the $5 ones. The owners are writing their own software and there are still glitches, but, despite the occasional quarrel, there is a definite sense of community on this site. I recommend people make a beeline for the lobby chat if they sign up. I'm couplecraft there.

I've tried promoting THF among the established members and you might see some of them come over, but several of them have their own websites.

Mars, please let us know if you can organize a THF event on CC.
