Ok I did some research and I found that what Chris Ferguson did was start with $1 and build his bankroll to over $20 000.
he used the following bankroll management to do this:
Here are some of his guidelines the site has listed for what he’ll play:
* He never buys into a cash game or a Sit & Go with more than 5 percent of his total bankroll (there is an exception for the lowest limits: he is allowed to buy into any game with a buy-in of $2.50 or less).
* He doesn’t buy into a multi-table tournament for more than 2 percent of his total bankroll, but he’s allowed to buy into any multi-table tournament that costs $1.
* If at any time during a No-Limit or Pot-Limit cash-game session the money on the table represents more than 10 percent of his total bankroll, he must leave the game when the blinds reach him.
After successfully making $20 000 from $1 I think he is now doing the same thing from nothing playing freerolls to making $10 000
he said that he lost his first $1 playing PLOHL because he thought that would be a good place to start, but deposited another $1 and started on NoLimit Holdem ring tables.
Chris Ferguson is trying to prove here that with, Dicipline, Good Bankroll Management and Patients you can either loose $1 or make $20 000 playing online poker for real money. I never heard him say anything or someone else say it but I think he is also showing how someone can offord to buy in to the WSOP $10 000 buy in from playing good poker online. I have to also point out that Chris Ferguson never whet outside his Bankroll Management rules, he never bought in for more than he can afford, he never shot it all on a high level table.
I have only just recently started playing online for real money. This challenge makes me think that maybe I could do the same. Granted he has a much higher level of skill than I do, and probably most of you guys here on this forum. But at least if I try to take on this challenge as well I know I will learn something. I have been seriously considering this challenge to the point of keeping a blog that I update weekly and this way I can reflect on what I am doing and others may learn something from what I am doing as well. I have been looking into what poker programs I should try this challenge on, I have put money down on PKR but I think this program is not suited to the challenge. Besides I want to start from nothing, and build it up from there. I've tried playing lots of freerolls on Pokerstars, and its so hard to make just $1 from those freerolls. Titan Poker is the program I have chosen to do this challenge on. From the reviews I found on this website:
Texas Holdem Strategy | Strategy For No Limit Texas Holdem
Titan scored well.
Titan 8.8
Pokerstars 8.3
PKR 7.0
Titan has $50 Freerolls and $100 Freerolls you can start playing frequently. I think that the other reason Titan scored well is because there are so many new people joining Titan every week, this increases the Donkey factor which means if you can out play Donkeys well theoretically you can make more money.
I'm going to try and find a Blog site or maybe even create my own website to do this. How realistic are my chances to be successful? I have no idea but I want to try and find out. As long as I keep reporting my sucesses and falures in the end if I am sucessful or not I'm sure there is something I can learn from it or someone else can too. I have noticed you guys doing some similar challenge over a period of time, well I think when I do this I'm commited to the end which I have no idea how long it will take. Could take years. But time is a factor for this challenge you need a lot of time to get a good result.
