| How do you play....... Playing Online | |

| | | | How do you play....... How do you play a re-buy-tourney.....????
I have only played about 6/7 of these.......a few $1, one £2 and a £3,.....I placed in the money on only one of these and the $2 ended up standing me $12......what I tend to do is add-on straight away giving me 3k in chips then I play as I do in the start of any MTT and I'm tight until the 1st hour is up where on AP you are then given the option to single or double re-buy I opt for the double option and if all as gone well I should have anywhere around 5k+ chips.
The reason I take the max amount of add-ons is I don't want anyone who does re-buy to have an advantage over me and any that don't re-buy for me to hopefully have an adavantage over them......the $2 tourney is the only one I went out of prior to the break therefore had to re-buy (double)........!!!!
However is this the right way to go about it.....????
I ask as when I play a standard MTT I tend to do quite well with just the one buy-in however in a re-buy I don't want to start with 1500 chips less than some other players.......the same with the add on at the break......!!!
Any advice or opinions as always are more than welcome.

| | | | What do you mean a buy in tourney? do you mean a rebuy one? | |

| | | | I'm assuming he means rebuy...well, here's my take on them:
Don't do the rebuy right off the bat. At pretty much every rebuy tourney you're gonna have people moving all in on a wide array of starting hands. Just wait for them to move when you have a pp, jacks or better, AK, or AQ. You can safely assume you are AT WORST a coin flip. Bust them, watch them rebuy, and continue this trend. Obviously, if you get unlucky, rebuy (single or double, depends on how deep into the rebuy period you are...the further in the more I'd say double), and when it comes for the add on period, take a look at your chip stack compared to everyone elses. If your place in chips is halfway into the money or better, I'd say you don't have to rebuy (although it doesn't hurt). So if the tourney pays 54, and you're in 30th, rebuy, if your in 20th, you don't necessarily have to.

| | | | well after watching a few of the vid on cardrunners the guy there uses a different strategy.
Basically he said hed think nothing of spending $200 dollars on a $5 rebuy as he`s aiming to build a huge stack before the break
Added on right off and raised and gambled in position / out of position with any 2 cards it looked like BUT after the flop if he hit nothing he would lay it down. The plus side of this is when he hits his big hands he gets paid of as everyone thinks he`s betting with crap.
He did infact build a huge stack got it upto 700k at one point and i believe won the tourney.
Obvoiusly rebuys will be dictated by your bankroll and how much youre willing to spend i would say tho once you go over 20k chips before the rebuy period ends tighten right up 20 k in the $3 or $5 rebuys ive played in on stars put me in the top 20 - 30 usually before the break which isnt a bad spot to be in. Most times i did this it only cost me 2-3 rebuys and an add on.
If youre a tight player then pick your spots to gamble but if you go all in expect at least 2 other callers hoping to suck out on you

| | | | To play a rebuy "properly" you'll need to rebuy numerous times. Loose as a whores drawers is the way.
Some of the best rebuy players (Bax, GBMantis) will rebuy numerous times as theey know those chips will be those at the end of the day.
Unless you're prepared to spend money stay away. LMAO at those who think they can get through with just the add-on at the break.

You will get people who will go all in with draws on straight and flushes. Most of the time the will catch and if they lose, they just come right back in and can beat you. Buy to answer your question. Click on the chip tray and it should say rebuy. Good Luck.

| | | | Hmmmmm..... To start thanks....so far.....
It all seems a little conflicting the advice given....that's far from saying its not good advice.....as......
I play as Mars suggested as that's the way I play poker.....In fact I wouldn't go all in with AQ...Maybe suited at a push.....however If what your saying is correct Matt.......then maybe it's not the game for me.
My B/R can cope with the level of re-buy tourneys I'm playing otherwise I would not play them.....but I aint no fish (well I hope I'm not) so I will never go all-in on the draw(unless of course).....this is why I'm tight till the first hour get maximum add-ons and then after no more buy ons or re-buys are available that's when I believe the real poker starts as If you go out then you are out for good.
My stack by then has a lot of blinds.....a lot and I'm believing that I can make it onwards from there......but I may well be wrong....???

| | | | The best thing to do is watch the 1st period of one of these so you can see how ppl who build these huge stacks play them, i guarentee youll see some outrageous raises and calls, for instance the guy in the card runners video raises something like 3 7 suited on the button its the tactics of it tho,
If people see you raising stuff like that when you actually get a monster you get paid off big time.
Rebuy period = crazy time and going in on pairs is usually risky from what ive seen anyone with any piece of the flop is calling you all the way or even coming over the top hehe

| | | | I'll see if I can find an article on them for you Sonny but I'm sure that if you consider yourself one of the best in the field you need to play as loose as a whores drawers and rebuy as much as you like as you will be getting all your chips back in the end.
The small rebuys ($3-$5) usually have 2-3x the whole field rebuying. Even last nights $109 rebuy on Stars (where a lot of pro play) had 128 entries and 277 rebuys with 90 add-ons at the break.
The money attracts them, the prize pool without rebuys would be $12800, it ended up $49500. 1st prize was $14800 so even if you spent $2k it's not a bad return on your cash.
