Default What A Nut

All-In on a paired board and he didn't even have the top 2 pair. Granted this was a 5 person max table but it still seems like a foolish play to me. The funny thing is I thought about this a moment since my kicker was not top but I knew I had no choice but to call. This guy had been very aggressive post flop the whole time I played this table so the all-in shouldn't really surprise me.

Seat 3: wattheuface ($48.10 in chips)
Seat 5: xave4000 ($24.10 in chips)
Seat 6: dek1141 ($34.55 in chips)
Seat 9: StarlightCst [QH,10C] ($21.50 in chips)
Seat 10: ThomYorke x ($15.20 in chips)

yeah, I think you have to call here although I would be worried about the str8 or boat. Having said that, I would've bet the flop given it was 2 suited. If people arer going to draw, make them pay. Were you hoping for a check raise?

After the flop I had top pair but 2 kickers can beat me so I check it.Not only that any A or K and my top pair is no longer top. I do this a lot when top pair is mid or low. Do you think this is a tactic I should avoid? It's just so many times in this situation I come out betting and the turn produces an overcard and I'm beat. Seems like when there are a couple or few overcards that can beat me they have an annoying habit of coming. Opinions on this please.

Once the trip 10 turned then at that point I am looking to check raise.

Given that the straight and flush draws are there I would bet this to try to protect your hand. I would probably check, hoping it would check round to one of the later players so I could raise resulting in other players having to call 2 bets............hang on. I've just realised this is NL.

ok, in that case, I would bet the pot to protect my hand. If people call with overcards, flush or straight draws they're probably not getting the correct pot odds for the call and while they may hit at some point in the long run you will make money.

I try to play like this: when I've got the best of it, I put my chips in. Don't be scared of the poosibility of overcards coming on the turn / river. If you play like that, you will be too passive and easy to play against.
