Default How much should you tip in a tournament?

Hello everyone,

I was wondering if there is an average amount you should tip the dealers in a tournament? I heard it was 15% but that sounds a bit excessive. Does it also depend on the size of the tournament. I doubt winning the WSOP would end up in a $300,000 tip.

The proper tipping in tournaments is between 2 and 10 percent.

You can subtract your intial buy-in and maybe one rebuy, but if you rebuy 5 times I wouldn't punish the dealers, but everything is up to you. You played, you won, so do as you like.

My basis of tipping at a tournament would be the same as me tipping at say a restaurant. It all depends on what kind of "service" I received. By service, I mean how the dealers were at the table. If they were somewhat entertaining, treating the people at the table with respect, and the overall job that they did dealing.

I agree with CK except for the 15-20%.

Yeah, the 15-20% seems a bit ridiculous, but 10% usually sounds good. Let's be realistic though, after a fasion, you've won enough money that 2% is very generous for the dealer.

I have never tipped in a tourny and never really thought about it till i just readed it. I usually tip( in addition to the rake) in live games all the time.
