Default friends checking down?

How do you feel when two friends blatantly check down a hand together? For example a week ago I was playing $4/$8 when I was caught between two raising players when I had AK. I ended up laying down the hand on the flop (6h,10h,qd - hit running diamonds for a flush) only to have the two buddies check out the rest of the hand. Player A had flopped tripped queens while the other hand KK. I was a bit upset to have put in 4 bets preflop to only have these guys check it out with no more action. A player mumbled under his breath that what they were doing was unfair and to be honest I thought so also. What kind of policies do casinos have towards play like this? How do you feel about this kind of play?

Default Bitches with no heart

I was at a casino last night and there was two groups of friends that were doing this when one would raise the other would call the turn making his nut ace high flush draw and checking all the way down with his buddy I was disgusted. Some times you just need to be ruthless and the poker table is one of those places. I can understand if it two college buddies playing against each other, but not two grown ass men it just isn't right.

This is not against the rules because the casino cannot prove that the checking was on purpose. Unless you hear the two players telling each other to check it down it comes down to who you are going to believe.

"They are checking it down because they are friends" says the person who lost money.

"I didn't think I had the best hand so I checked" says the other two.

This is why there is nothing that can be done unless the players say something.

It may not be against the rules, but I am very opposed to this, especially if you are at the casino. If you don't want to take any money from your friend, you shouldn't be playing at the same table with him. I look at it this way- my friend is just another person I'm trying to take money from at the table.

Default no problem

i dont have a problem with this at all. IVe played at a table whre there was 3-4 players that were friends. They would check it down if they got heads up. It didnt effect me at all while i was playing and i really dont see how it effects anyone exept for them.

I agree with texas. Say I go to the casino with him and are goal is to both make money and the table is very beatable for both of us, why should we risk all our money against each other? Of course I wouldn't just check all the time but I understand why people do it.

Seems like they would just agree ahead of time to split the winings/losses instead of checking down...I don't see how checking down interferes that much. Just means that two friends will remain n the pot and both lose...hahahaha

It's unfair, but in the end, One one player can win the hand unless they have the exact same thing in their hand.

I also was iffy about this practice when I first started playing in brick-and-mortar casinos but think of it this way, they are muting the good hands that should be paying them off in the long run and that difference alone should be the equalizer and when you have AK and see this happen again--against two opponents your are nearly 50% to win giving you ample reason to call just for the pot odds, keep taking that chance and you only have to win 1 out of 3 times to break even and the odds say you will win more! Remember, there are always weaknesses in every attack. Just my 2 cents,

Minnejohnny
