^ nice.

Yesterday I was at a 5 person table (in my home, just friends).
3 people fold (including me) after the flop.
After the turn the board shows:
9 10 J Q all diamonds.
The two remaining players both bet big.
The river is an Ace diamonds.

First player goes all in with 8d (straight flush), and second player calls with Kd (Royal Flush).

It was the most unbelievable hand I've ever personally witnessed!
Sad thing is, I'll probably never see such a hand again for a long long time!

Best live hand I have ever had was a straight flush. The best part about it was that I took out another player who had an Ace high flush. He went all in and I called and he was completely shocked and devastated. He could not believe his "Nut" flush got beat.

I was just playing some live poker last night and had a pretty nuts hand early on in the game. Okay so I'm holding a 6/8 suited and my friend is holding a 7/k suited. The flop comes (8 J 7). I'm not gonna use suits cause it wasn't a flush situation. I bet a fair amount seeing that he checked off on the hand (I have the position) so now I bet trying to see where he thinks his hand is at. (Sorry, but I forget that actual amounts of the bets). He calls my fair sized bet, but not an outragesous one and we go to the turn. Turn comes (7). Now I'm thinking that he probably has trips here because he didn't bet like he had the Jack, and he did call my bet, so he probably had some part of this flop. He checks -- to draw me in I assumed, but I tested anyway. I throw out a fair sized bet (I have the chips to spare) and he just calls -- his biggest mistake. River comes (8). Now I have the full house, 8s full of 7s and he has the full house 7s full of 8s. This is where the fun starts. Now he comes off with a pretty strong bet, I reraise him to put him all-in and of course he has no trouble calling being too excited to realize what is going on and we flip the cards and I take him out.

P.S. Crazy hands don't only happen on PokerStars

i had a similar situation a week or so ago... although i was on the receiveing end. i had 88, and my opponent called my bet... flop came 8 2 4. i had high trips, the nuts!!! i was trying my best not to wet my pants with excitement. my emotions running high, thinking about how to get the most out of him, i thought to slowplay. i merely called his bets. The river came out and it is time to bet big. i go all in, and he calls and flips over an ace high flush. im out.

Moral of the story: Do not let your excitement blind you from other possibilities on the turn or river. I thought i had it made, only to forget about checking for the flush on the river. Basic mistake, but i was excited...

Scotia.. you just made my point in the other thread about the difference between amateurs and pro's. I'm not meaning to pick on you or be mean here -- but you see my point now right? The pro's never let excitement take a hold of them and stay level headed throughout the entire hand. Your trip 8s was the best hand until the river, some raises might have been in order.

no probs mate yeah i know thats what makes me bad - i would be a reasonable player if i weren't so excitable.... i should learn to stay calm. the pros are good at that, i cant seem to grasp it

Hey, that's why they call them pro's... Don't sweat it -- a good tactic that I use to get better is that no matter what happens. Every hand of hold 'em that I play -- I better learn a lesson from it. If I don't I did something wrong. Win or Lose -- find something to take from that hand and apply it. If you aren't doing that -- you aren't serious about getting better.

One of the more memorable hands for me was at a home game with some friends, I had 90% of the chips for most of the game, and it was heads up with this one very aggressive guy. He goes all-in a couple times, and managed to get lucky and begin to take a dent into my stack.

He goes all-in with 22, I call with AK, the flop comes 10 2 2, and just like that he doubles up again. Finally, on another hand he goes all-in pre-flop, I have KK. I act like I am thinking about for a minute, then I call. Of course, he flips over AA. The flop comes 2K8, and I am feeling pretty good. The turn is a blank, and the river comes up, of course, an Ace. I was crushed, and eventually lost the game. The cards just turned against me, and I didn't play for a day or so after that.

Tough beat -- try avoiding the preflop all-in against this guy. I have a friend like that when I play too. He likes to push all-in preflop with anything. He might have AA, he might have 4/10 offsuit. Thing is, once you call the all-in, only lady luck can decide who will win. I'd rather fool around with skill than luck -- she can be a bit nasty.

Ive got a goodie... Here I am holding pocket 9's, my friend pocket Jacks, my other friend JQ of diamonds the flop 9d-Jd-9s...

I bet, get raised, my friend iwth JQ calls, I call, turn Jh

I check, the Jacks raise to 2.50, we both call, the river Kd.. st8 flush

I go all in, they both call... I go out along with my friend Tom, and lose to my friend Johnny... I had the worst hand with four of a king 9's, I know this wasn't rigged cause I was dealing... lost my 10 bucks
