Poker Player Strangles Competitor in fit of rage
December 15, 2009
According to several reports and a forum posting on TwoPlusTwo, a poker game at the Bellagio went south quickly just a few days ago when a poker player choked a competitor in a fit of rage. Tony Korfman, a poker player and author, attacked a fellow player after his temper got the best of him.
The tournament in question was a $1,000 re-buy second chance tournament at the Bellagio and Korfman was participating along with many other poker players. According to the TwoPlusTwo post, Korfman busted on the bubble and this angered him. So much in fact, that he grabbed a fellow player by the neck and began to yell obscenities at the player and then choke him.
Security guards had to intervene and pull Korfman off the poker player. Korfman was then escorted off the premises. The poker player who was assaulted decided to not press charges. The player was afraid pressing charges would cause another attack by Korfman.
Bryan Devonshire was the eye witness during the attack and he is the one who talked about the incident on TwoPlusTwo. Korfman must have seen Devonshire’s post as he posted a reply which read:
“I did not bubble. said punk bubbled then slammed his stack toward the guy that won the hand. punk was pissed because guy rivered him with a gutterball. then he had the balls to question weather the guy had him covered with part of his chips in the pot, part on the floor and part in the guy’s stacks. I then mother ****ed him for being a prick and chaos ensued. I always defend the dealers, floormen and players that don’t defend themselves. these types of punks should have been spanked when they were a kid. actually im sorry I didnt pants him and take him over my knee. that would have been a great lesson for him. tk.”
Korfman’s actions were wrong and now he is banned from the Bellagio until the casino says otherwise. It will be interesting to see what actions Korfman will take and if the ban will be lifted in the near future

Hate when that happens... we had a fight at one of the clubs at the $1/2 NL table next to us, and I had just shipped it on the turn when one of guys ended up "laying" in the middle of our damn table. Hella buzzkill for an otherwise great game.

I was playing roulette in an Edmonton Casino when a player snapped and attacked the dealer. He flipped the table on his way to the dealer which started major mayhem. People scrambling for chips. It ended up being a major ordeal as they locked the place down and reviewed film till they had their money chips back. One thing I found out that day is every inch of the place is covered by cameras from different angles. Also, they knew exactly what money chips were missing once they got the table set up and the chips collected. Pretty tight controls on everything. Other than being inconvenienced, I was pretty impressed with how they handled it! Most who had scooped chips gave them up willingly when the anouncement was made that casino personnel were going to review the tapes of the floor. A couple hold outs came clean when after reviewing tape they were asked to give the chips they picked up back. A third hold out claimed the chips were his and there was nothing the casino could do to prove otherwise. He was wrong, and was arrested for theft under $5000.00. They finally let play resume, and those that wanted to leave, go. Elapsed time start to finish...28 minutes.

Damn, sounds like an efficient room in all actuality. 28 minutes to reconstruct everything and get everything recovered. That's not bad. It just sucks that some people have to be like that.

That's some funny stuff. I will leave it up to the other blues and reds to decide whether the url can stay up.
