| 2008 wsop final table delay Playing Live | |

| | | | This brings up some very interesting scenarios. What if beteen July and November, somebody dies? Do they blind out? Can a substitute for them play it out? Can you say "law suit" by the family? | |

| | | | answer is right in the article: Quote: |
What if something happens that precludes a player from playing at the final table? The WSOP has accounted for that. A player who does not appear will have his chips "blinded off,"
| here's two other articles. mostly same info http://www.worldseriesofpoker.com/ne...sp?newsid=2008 http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/poker...ory?id=3375032
going to be good for poker in general since ESPN can hype it to death. could cause lots of problems like deal making, coaching, collusion, etc. Not to mention the possibility of a foreign player with a 5BB stack flying back and forth lol...

| | | | I still can smell a law suit. Some body dies with a mid stack, or better, his family argues "he woulda won" not blinded out at say 5 or 6. Some Lawsuits in America have been bording on the stupid, sometimes yet have won huge awards . | |

| | | | I like the timetable change. That way everyone can see the final table without everybody knowing who's gonna win it. Also, players can take a long break before playing the biggest final table of their life. It means that the players will be at full playing capabilities when the final table does start. It just sounds really good to me.

| | | | Bad idea. Too many things can happen in four months. | |

| | | | I'm all for a SHORT delay before the start of the final table. I would like to see players well rested and see the event hyped up, but I also don't want too much coaching going on beforehand, either - Let's say you have Phil Ivey at the final table with a bunch of amateurs, what do you think are Ivey's chances with a 1 day delay?
Now let's say we have a 4-month delay, and all of the amateurs are coached by pros, and are able to raise their game to a near-professional level themselves - do you think Ivey has as good of a shot?
As much as luck will allow, the player who wins the final table should be the player who shows up with the most skill, not the one who can learn the most about his opponents in 4 months. Heck, if I studied Phil Ivey for 4 months straight I could probably pick up a couple tells on him.

| | | | It's great. Good to see it not just stopped at talking about it but someone made that decision. If it doesn't work they can change it back next year. These guys will be millionaires, let them wait a few months. They will even get to earn more money along the way. I do think they should all be given 9th place money in July when they've reached the final table. Quote: |

All 9 players will show up in November, there will be no eliminations. Quote: |

Let the others study, all we get to see is more and better poker. In November we will be talking about what great reads some players made and stuff like that. | |
