Default Frustrated

I don't get upset very often, but this one got under my skin.

I made it to the final table once again at my Thursday "matinee" $10 winner take all MTT. There were 7 players left and I was the BB. Blinds were 2000/4000 ante 300. I had medium sized chip stack as well as one caller. Everyone else folded. Flop comes 9 3 3 rainbow. I'm holding 9 8. Caller bets minimum bet. I think and think. He doesn't have the 3 (wouldn't make sense to bet), maybe 9 with a better kicker (not likely) so I push all-in and he calls...omg!! He turns over K 8???? He put his tournament life on the line for that. As some of you may have already guessed he gets his K on the river!

When I asked him what was he thinking calling me, his response was "well you did it to me with my pocket 4's"! The hand he was referring to was earlier in the game when he went all-in with 44. I had 3 times his chip stack and was holding AQ. I got my Q. How he related justifying his call in that hand to beating his pocket 4's is beyond me.

p.s. For those of you who know how I feel about karma you will get a kick out of this. When we got to the final table it is quite common for everyone to agree to all the players getting $20 and the rest goes to the winner. Well this time this one dude (chip leader) says NO. No chops!! I was sitting to his left and quietly said, "you know, karma has away of coming back to bite you". Well six hands later we had him out of the game and the 7 of us left immediately agreed to the chop. So I did at least cover my "matinee".

Nice story and nice result again Cat

The hand reminded me of one at a cash game last night. I'd doubled my buyin when opponent called me all the way with the same hand - K8. I still don't know why he did it. It was absolutely certain from the flop onwards that he only had 3 outs ..and of course he hit his K on the river.

A little later in the same game, I flop a straight on a 3 diamond flop.
One bets, one calls, I raise pot. 1st player folds, 2nd player calls.
Turn brings nothing. Opponent checks and I raise around pot again.
Opponent goes allin..he's a low stack and I call thinking I'll pay off the flush if he has it - he has a set of 3's and hits his quads on the river
Anyway, I left with triple my buyin so maybe karma caught up with me too.

Your live games sound fun. I'm hoping to play some more live stuff soon.
I just heard about a live league starting up at a nearby town so I'm chasing up those details now.

Cool. Good that you came out ahead, too.

Haha! Nice work! Good job on agreeing the chop after he was out of the game!
