Default Dead Money?

I was reading a post on RecPoker.com about how there isn't such a thing as "dead money" anymore in a tournament setting. Some of the points he made were that with the explosion of on-line poker, it allowed the average player to expirence a lot more hands in a shorter amount of time. SNG's also improved a player's "end game", allowing them to be competitive once they made the final table.

He then went on to talk about how the Pro Poker players have lost their edge. I am not so sure if I agree with this comment based on the fact that this game still comes down to skill, and Pros obviously would be much more skilled than the PokerStars low-limt NLHE tourny player.

Any comments?

I agree with the original poster in some aspects. Dead money players are usually inexperienced players who are playing with players much better than them. A few years ago any type of inexperienced player in the WSOP would be surrounded by 6 or more pro players and would really be able to do much. Even if they did get lucky or win a few pots they would eventually be grounded down by the majority of pros at each table. Now with so many more inexperienced and new players, each table becomes softer and softer. The game becomes weak and allows even bad players to win huge pots and gain chip leads. This is why I believe you see so many unknown names with huge chip counts after day 1 and 2 in the WSOP. These are the players that were able to get paid off by weaker players early in the tournament. Even if you had 2 pros at every table that still wouldn't be enough to isolate and bust the bad players. It also wouldn't provent these sames players from dumping/collecting hugh pots from other weak players.
