Default Raising out of turn...what happens if first position checks?

kinda same ballpark as my raise, reraise (Raise, Reraise...what happens?) question the other week.

i was speaking to a buddy tonight at the poker

i wasnt 100% sure of what happens so im posting it here to see if someone can confirm this

heres the scenario

2 players in a hand. Before the 1st player to act can do anything the 2nd player says i raise to 1000 ie. he acted out of turn

My buddy said that since he acted out of turn, if he checks the player who acted out of turn has to check too but if he raises to say 3,000 then the player last to acts 1,000 chips is in regardless

he seemed pretty sure about this. I know the rules arent the same in different casinos etc but my assumption was that if he player 1 raises then the 1,000 chips from player 2 are in the pot regardless. However, if he checks then player 2's raise of 1,000 can stand.

I have seen this occur in live events a few times but never with a dealer etc (ie. in the casino) so most of the time the out of turn raise stood

whats right?

Wink As far as I'm aware......

If you bet out of turn and if the other player checks you have to check it with them, and if they bet you can raise them.....however within the respect to what the out of turn player said he wanted to bet it's immaterial......!!!

More often than not a player calls out of turn with an all in, unless there losing the plot, so therefore it gives the other player a chance to check it down and get a free card.....So if your player as you said had bet say 3000 this man who is on rags and just wanted to bluff you out with his all in would be forced to call 3000 for you to hit a card.....now that would be just to cruel making him check down and he does have the nuts is bad enough.......On the rivers the worse at a live game......!!!!! Ouch......I've done it....I was young had to check down my full house against top str8....!!! And again Ouch!!!!

In most cases I have seen the player tends to check it down....I mean its one hell of a tell and even if its not you should make it cost your opponent....any advantage will do.

This is my experience of live games......At last something I know about! lol

At my local B&M casino, when a person acts out of turn then their play is null & void until the person who's turn it is makes their play.

Example: Player two raises to 1000 before player one acts then player one can still check, raise or fold just like any other time they are acting first. Then player two makes his play.

Different casinos have different rules, so if you're in a casino and this happens it's best just to call the floor manager over for a ruling. That's what they're there for.

I'd also like to here from FinK on this one. He's got plenty of live action dealing experience and has more than likely seen this happen a lot.

As i have seen it happen at my local B/M say the person out of position raises, they do one of two things.

1. You as in the person before is allowed to complete their play, and the raise or call in question is held off to the side, and then completed and play resumes normally.

2. If the dealer and floor person is in a fickle mood, its too bad so sad, you acted out of turn, so its a call, and the rest of your money stays in the pot.
