Default Playing poker for very low stakes

When I first started playing poker a couple of years ago, I started playing with friends (a lot of whom post on this site) in like 1 dollar tournaments. Playing 5 dollar tournaments back then was a huge deal. Now we don't usually play full tournaments for anything less than 20 dollars. My question to you guys is if you would play poker purely for just the fun of the game and not as much so for the financial risk of it. Personally, I enjoy the game enough to play just as serious in a 1 dollar tournament as I would in a 30 dollar tournament, but I know this to not be the case for a lot of people. I just respect the game that much and would not do more reckless or ridiculous things just because the stakes change. How would you play in very low stake games, if at all?

I think that you always want to win, but it becomes much easier to make marginal calls when its "only" for a dollar. It becomes easier to have the mentality of "what the heck, maybe i'll get lucky." Such low stakes, when the players don't value their buy-in become pretty frusterating, especially in a tournament style game. To be honest, its somewhat sad, but the $30 buy in tournaments have gotten to be too cheap- players will call with draws etc., with the "its no big deal" mindset.

The other day I spent a few rounds with my Uncle (he won't play 2/4) at the .50/1 table. To my surprise, they were players!! No 8 to a flop, like I expected. It was tighter than alot of 5/10 games I've been in.

I am sure to play differently at higher or lower stake tables. But not because of me. Because my opposition plays differently, then I must play differently. I am in the learning curve on this game, but this is a part of the game and a part of table selection too.
