Spyware Doctor

Its a free download i suggest everyone get it. It's really a great tool. If you have never scanned for spyware this will find a couple hundred i bet. I have not found a better spyware remover than this yet.

And for all you AdAware users, beware, your license agreement allows them to remove spyware, AND allows them to put there very own spyware on your computer.

i run spysweeper and i dont recall any virus or spyware getting put on my pc when i downloaded it. I always check this kind of thing and refuse to have any site which puts something on my pc which i dont want there.

did you download it directly from party?

seriously - there is no reason for a billion dollar company such as party to make a few extra dollars by putting this kind of thing on your pc.

download the trial version of http://www.spysweeper.com/

and see what it finds

Its possible you have gateway spyware that keeps paths open for spyware to get in. Not all spyware infects.

You need a couple programs to keep you safe. As i recall Blazing Tools came out with thier 'Perfect' keylogger. And it was perfect, until a no name program called Pest Patrol could seek and destroy this work of perfection.

No other program could detect it. You are never 100% safe, the more scanners the better.

yeah i have spywaredoctor as well as search and destroy and ADAWARE. however i did not know about that adaware they may be the cause of it. the thing is is that i have been having problems ever sence i got party poker and i have pary poker pop ups ocasionaly. seriously thought the thing about spyware and pop ups is retarded in the fact that i will never click the adds or download/purchase any thing from a pop up so having 100 pop ups a day of shit that i dont want is just gonna further make me hate the companys advertising and spread how i feel to others. WHO ACTUALY CLICKS POP UPS.... no one.... so why do they put it on there. i think there should be a national no pop up list.... friggen in the riggen... but i'll get rid of adaware and see where that gets me. thanks cowboy.

p.s. i still hate party poker because there pop ups are on my computer....

i honestly dont believe theres any chance of party installing something like this

im not sure if you know how the whole spyware industry works
ill assume you dont

basically, there are many types of spyware. The biggest type is the one which monitors the pages you are browsing - it doesnt actually remember the info and then send it to anyone but it takes a snapshot of the page quickly, scans it for keywords and then scours its database for a suitable advertiser that the spy company has partnered with. At this point a related ad will pop up.

Now not all act in this way - some pop up every time you open up, some at a random time or event.

One of the main section of people to add spyware to your computer is developers who add spyware to their free version. For example, i downloaded an FTP last year. If you paid for it there were no ads but if you didnt the download came with spyware on it to fund the developer - that particular site was honest about it and warned downloaders about it and said that it was to cover the cost of him working full time on the script. Fair enough.

However, as you know not all sites are this fair and some hide it on their downloads.

Anyways - im moving away from my main point here. The main point is that although money can be made, it isnt actually that much. Most sites which add it are not making that much money or are adding spyware to fund their work (ie. like scripts found on downloads.com)

Now i aint disputing that some sites might put in certain things on your pc that they arent 100% honest about but i refuse to believe that any of the major sites would add spyware to their downloads

Using your example of party poker, they have on average 60,000 players at the table at any given time. Do you have any idea how much rake this site is collecting? Put simply party is probably worth close to a billion dollars. They would be complete idiots to add spyware to their downloads to make a few extra cents (and honestly per download thats probably all spyware companies make per ad)

do this for me

* completely uninstall party poker from your computer
* install spysweeper, spydoctor, ad aware etc -make sure you have a few running
* Download party again and install

post any messages that appear when installing party

if nothing appears then party is clean, if it isnt then we would be able to track down exactly what it is (you have to remember that when installing anything with spysweeper, 90% of the time it pops up asking if you want the file added to your safe list - this is because your registry is being edited, which is required by most applications....for example, adding something to start up or whatever )

i think its the best thing to do bud cos it could have been a number of things

if party does have it i would have been the first to voice this. I hate spyware with a passion - infact, i briefly ran a technical type site and wrote several articles on removing spyware, the sasser virus etc from your pc. Ivr always got my spy blockers on so i doubt it would have got past me on installation

anyways - let us know what happens mate

The best thing to do with spyware is to backup your files and format your computer. This programs are better avoiding the spyware enter that removing them. For me I had to format the cpu about a month ago because of spyware.
