not tried it
the odds are quite bad - ie. youd be better playing lower sngs and then using the money to pay for entry into a higher priced sng

regardless of odds they are quite fun - if I have had a successful run at 2-3 table tourneys I might treat myself to a bottom level entry. Tight play gives you a far better chance at success in the 2 table one as most players view it as a long odds gamble and are willing to take lots of risks . I have sometimes seen it get to final table after only 20 or so hands! Almost unheard of in a 10$ 2 table. So if you enjoy steps format you are much better buying in at 12$ if you have the time as you should qualify 2 out of 3 if you are a reasonably strong player or certainly 50% of the time. That being said it is probably best for those who are either 1-2 table sng specialists or for those who only have 2hours at a time as normal tournaments otherwise should give a better rate of return. That is if profitability is your main motivation. I probably get more pleasure from playing in steps tourneys than any other style of tournament so i think they are great (but not profitable). 3rd round is my best as well

just did what fonz suggested (for variety) and won a 20$ two table - so obviously happy - I probably enjoyed that tourney more than a steps. The best thing about steps is that as you rise up the rounds you are less likely to get nothing - you might get a small bit of money or a buy in to the same or a lower round.

Still I am enjoying the 160$ I won

I've played in three of them and 3rd step is as high as I could get. It's probably best to buy-in to the highest level you can afford and go from there.

i got to step 3 won the step 3 retry like 4 times then first hand of my 4th i got QQ me and this dude dude did the rasing game preflop then we went all in QQ to 10 10 he spiked his 10 and i was out in 10th place with 4 dollars. it would be better just to play SNG's and work money up from there and trying t win steps and not getting anything if you dont make it to step 5

oh....what was the younger fonz thinking about - lol

i was correct in saying that value wise it isnt as good as just paying your own way up via winnings - however, i clearly didnt consider the fact that it gives you a lot of game experience at a relatively low cost.
