main difference between online and live is online to call you just hit a button live you actually have to put chips in pot the other is online you play about 4 times more hands than live

THF Player of the Year
gdice is right and this calls for more miracle draws and bad beats.
The internet has many more inexpierenced players than a card room does...they play loose and with the sheer number of them taking risk, some will hit and then you lose a hand that your opponent should not have been in or stayed as long as they had.

Yeah, nearly all the poker sites have people complaining of terrible beats and miracle draws. The freerolls in Paradise are not too good (much like Pokerstars) but I like all the little things that Paradise does. For instance, when you win a big hand, your 5 card hand either get lit with red flames or blue electric flames. Also, in tournies, when someone gets knocked out, there's a puff of smoke, then they are gone. The Easter freeroll I was in was decorated with easter baskets and eggs and such. I'm just a sucker for bells and whistles I guess. Overall, it's not that bad a site. Just wish they had some cheaper minis and multis.

I only played on paradise for a little while and i didn't really see too many bad beats. but when i played on Absolute i had come to expect a bad beat because it happend so often. It's basically the more pppl you have on a site the more chasers there are. You're gonna find people that will chase a gut shot and get it. thats just the way the world works.

You see many many more hands online then you would ever do live. So you will see more bad-beats.. But trust me I Have seen MUCH wilder things happen on a live table and total 1 out suckouts as well on a live table. Ive seen 5 pocket pairs on the table at once live.. and the deck was not stacked (for fun game.. no money involved)

I must say that I have to agree on the bad beat topic. I admitt that I am quite scketchy of internet poker anyway, but what happened to me really made my conspiracy theory meter go into the red. I downloaded software and deposited 100$ witch was then made 125$ by paradise. By the next day, I was at 0$ which is especially strange because I am a fairly tight player as it is. I was playing the 25$NL tables and 4 times in my short stay w/ Paradise I was dealt pocket prs that ended up in trips and eventually boats. All 4 times another person ended w/ a higher boat and me allin I may be totally off base with this, but I wondered if maybe the site creates situations like this to increase rake. Anyway, needless to say I went right on back to Pokerstars where competition is a bit stiffer, but where I feel my $$'s are safe.

One major reason that I haven't seen mentioned yet really, is that more bad beats also occur online due to the anonymity of the players. Players can take long shot draws, and win or lose, there is no embarrassment factor. I've been in the situation in a live game where I made a horrible suckout (about a 3% draw) on a guy after misreading him, and I was so embarrassed I quietly rebated him a portion, and left. Online, you don't have to stare down the guy after you deliver or take a bad beat.
