Default How much benefit in learning games like pineapple and razz?

I know the basic rules for both, but have never played either yet, so I'm wondering how much benefit there would be in doing so.

it depends by what you mean by "benefeit". im assuming you mean how would your 7 stud game benefeit? it is good to learn and play different types of poker, so that you dont become a "one trick pony" and also so that you can take a break from a particular variant (holdem or omaha for example)...it keeps you from getting tired of playing the same game every day. it also improves other aspects of your poker game (for example razz will improve your omaha h/l and stud h/l game)
howard lederer made an interesting article about this on fulltiltpoker.com in the "lessons from the pros" section

I second what Lucos was saying about not wanting to be a pony that only knows one trick. Also, recently I have become addicted to HORSE tournaments. In a HORSE tournament you play a round of Hold'em, a round of Omaha, a round of Razz, a round of Seven Card Stud, and a Round of Seven 8/B to round it all out. They are a great way to get experience in several different poker games at once as well as quite the challenge. I've been playing quite a bit of Razz lately as well and there is just something addictive about it.

Look under the Private Tourneys tab on fulltilt there are several groups there that are doing HORSE tournaments on a fairly regular basis.

I think having more than one game you can play helps you stay fresh. I play omaho and razz to take my mind off holdem (my main game). It helps me get out of some bad habits that I might start doing just because I take a break and think about something else. Also a great tilt preventer, you get frustrated at one game, you can move to a different game and not have to quit playing cards for the day.

As everyone else says, its not really a benefit to help you out in other games, but moreso to help you become better in a varied amount of games. I personally feel it's really important to try out alot of poker games. Sooner or later you'll feel stagnant and bored of playing the same game over and over again, like when I played nothing but Holdem. After awhile I tried out other games and felt *******ed and out of that rut. Sure you can pick up other skills in other games but its not like playing Omaha will make you a better Holdem player. Also, you may find that you're better at a different game than Holdem. Like I actually feel my Omaha game is much better than my holdem game.

It might come in handy if you lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma, as the Cherokee Casino in Tulsa has a Crazy Pineapple tourney every Thursday morning.
