Default How Do You Play

I know how to play Omaha. 4 cards in the hole and 5 community cards and you must use 2 of your hole cards and 3 community cards to make the best 5 card hand.

But how do you play Omaha hi/low and Omaha 8?

Well first off omahi H/L and omaha 8 are the same game just different names.
Now the omaha high part is same as omaha as best high hand takes the high pot, which sometimes is the whole pot if there is no low qualifying hand. Now the low hand is the tricky part. First off there has to be 3 different cards on the board from 8-A for a low to be possible. Now for you to take the low hand you must have the best low hand of all the people in the pot. For example you have A2KQ in your hand and the board is 8KQ35. Now you have the nut low which would be 8532A and would take the low or you might have to split with somebody who has the same low. Also for the high hand you would have 2 pair which would have a slight chance of taking the high pot. The key is scooping the pot or taking 3/4 of it by winning both pots or taking 1/2 of one and taking the whole of another. Be careful when you pair you low cards you would not have a low and sometimes you best low can get totally screwed by the end. For example you have A3KK and the board starts out 8 7 2. Right now you have the best low, but if a 3 hits now you are looking at A2378 as low and somebody with A4 would have A2347 which totally screws you. Now also you can use the same 2 cards for your low hand and high hand, for example you make the wheel you know you got the low locked and also that could be the best high hand. Best advise don't play any hand unless you got a good low and high to draw at. Personnaly I fold KK87 all the time for example because pairs are longshots for holding up the high, and the low is crap.

Good breakdown Tee. The only thing I have to add is that a "wheel" in Omaha ( or any other poker game" is a straight from A-5. It is considered one of the best hands ( if not the best) in Omaha because if you get a wheel, you are most likely going to scoop the hi and low. ( well, definitely the low as Tee pointed out and a good chance at the high) I dont play ohaha that much but I am starting to play that and Stud a little more to break the monontany of playing NLHE all the time.
