| | | | Guts This is one of my favorite games to play, just wondering if anyone else has ever played it and your thoughts on it. I've only seen this game offered on Superior Poker, if anyone knows where else I can find it, please let me know. http://www.oinc.net/poker/guts.html

| | | | We play this game EVERY weekend. Except we also deal a "dummy" hand in the middle of the table. The player or players holding the cards must not only beat each other but then the dummy hand. Each player antes (we ante $1.00 before each round)
Then the cards are lifted off the table, the chosen dealer then counts 1, 2 , 3, Drop. Each player drops cards unless they choose to play. If no one stays in the the cards are raked to the side and everyone re-antes. Next after the count of three if 1 player is holding cards then he must be the "dummy" hand. If he beats it he wins, if not he matches the pot.
If two or more players stay in the one that has the worst hand out of them has to match the ante and the one with the best hand then sees if he beats the "dummy"hand, if he does he wins the pot (before the other player matches it.) Game continues until one player stays and beats the dummy hand.
Last weekend the pot was up to $76.00 and two players were holding cards ... I thought Oh no, one of those players has to match the pot!
It's a fun game to play when you only have 4 people (not enough, in my opinion to play hold'em)
I hope this makes since.

| | | | I play this game too. I play it at the of our cash, home game. It's a good finale. You lose a lot or you win a lot. You can make 300 bucks at the end just for playing. Or lose it.
Everyone puts in an ante like summers said. Then every1 gets a card. You look at the card and if you feel its a high enough card you stay in. When you have a lot of people the pot gets big and its pretty cool. When the pot is $80 its funny when someone has to double the pot. lol.

Just curious, how much do you guys usually ante/bring-in (if you have a set amount to bring in to be able to sit down) I want to start playing this at some of the live games I play at, but am unsure on how much to bring.

| | | | We usually start with $30.00 each. Some people have to cash in for more chips pretty quick though. you might want to start with a 50 cent ante at first.
The best thing about this game is if you have to match the pot you can always win your own money back (the money you just put in) on the next hand. I don't know of another game that you put money in, and can turn around and get your money right back.
We play with two cards, not three. I tried playing 3, but didn't like it. With two cards pairs are the best, high card also good.
The other day I had pocket kings, someone else stayed in with K / 10. He had to match the pot, then I turned over the dummy hand and it had pocket Aces. (what are the odds? Anyway I had to match the pot too it was up to $14.00 - but after we both matched it - it was $42.00. I stayed in on the next hand I think I had like A / 5 or something, and won the money right back. Thsi started a new game. If someone else had stayed in and one of us lost they would have had to match $42, while the "winner" of that hand got the $42 that was in the pot. And would keep going until the pot was clear with only one winner.
Have fun playing, we really enjoy it
