Texas Straight anybody? last night i saw 3 guys playing what they told me afterwards was called texas straight poker. They were playing drunk - one exceedingly, one very and one fairly. Big money seemed to be changing hands (by my standards and several £20 notes changed hands after a hand.
It seems to be no limit they were playing - chatting to some others who have played in the game before proved that it was a very loose lucrative game to get in on. I am not sure they would let me because i have a bit of a reputation as a clever guy and have not undersold my poker playing abilities to the community at large.
The rules they say are as follows: everyone has 2 hole cards (like texas holdem) and there is a round of betting on seeing these
then one community card is turned over (round of betting) then another (round of betting) then the last one (round of betting) - best poker hand wins.
It seems a pretty rubbish game with little scope for advanced play and with hold cards only getting paired 1/3 of the time all cards are seen and only 12% when 1 community card is seen pocket pairs are worth a lot more than they are in TH.
I was interested if this actually exists outwith the heads of these three drunks and if so any tips on how to really kick their asses. |
