Default Emails i received this morning about US Legislation

"As a valued partner of Fortune Affiliates we are committed to helping you stay informed and up-to-date with the ongoing changes in the industry. The more information you have, the easier it will be for you to focus your efforts on the areas that will generate the most profits for you.

It's with regret that we inform you that our client, Fortune Lounge, has decided to halt all business activities in the following states: South Dakota, Nevada, Oregon, Wisconsin, Washington State, Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan, Illinois, New York and New Jersey.

As of October 13, 2006 at 12 PM EST, Fortune Lounge will stop accepting any new accounts or bets from players in the above states.

This change does not impact your earning potential with Fortune Affiliates in non-affected states, or the rest of the world. We look forward to continuing a lucrative business partnership with you.

Yours sincerely,

The Fortune Affiliates Team"

"It is with regret that we have to inform you that in light of recent legislative changes in the United States; PlayShare (PokerShare and CasinoShare) will no longer be able to accept transactions from either new or existing players residing in the States listed below, as of today, Friday, October 13th, at 11:30 am EST.

We have no choice but to close the accounts for all players residing within these States. Money remaining in the accounts will be returned to players via an automated cash-in process after the accounts are closed.

As a result, you will no longer be able to generate revenue from PlayShare's Casino or Poker Room in these States:

1. Michigan
2. Illinois
3. Louisiana
4. Oregon
5. Washington
6. Wisconsin
7. Indiana
8. Nevada
9. South Dakota
10. New Jersey
11. New York

We look forward to working with you in other markets and would like to arrange a call to discuss your account and how we can maximize your future revenue excluding these states. If you have any queries or would like to find out more, please do not hesitate to contact your affiliate manager. We will keep you informed of any changes in regard to this situation and look forward to continuing our existing relationship.

Kind regards,
PlayShare Affiliates

"PlayShare Affiliates is pleased to announce that both CasinoShare.com and PokerShare.com are still accepting US-based players. Whilst we unfortunately have had to block players from 11 states (Michigan, Illinois, Louisiana, Oregon, Washington, Wisconsin, Indiana, Nevada, South Dakota, New Jersey and New York) , there are still 39 states filled with players eager to gamble online. " Dear affiliate.

On September 30, 2006 the US Congress passed the “SAFE Port Act” which also contained certain provisions known as the “Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006” that affects the processing of payments between US customers and certain online gaming companies. This legislation was signed into law by President George Bush on October 13, 2006.

Please find the Ad Hoc Release regarding our way forward due to this development in the U.S. below in this e-mail .

We will get back to you with further communication shortly, where you will be able to find more information. If you have any questions in the meanwhile, please contact your Account Manager.

Your Affiliate Team. "

"Dear Valued Affiliate,

As a current member of the Microgaming poker network, VIP.com Poker regrets to inform you, effective immediately, that players that reside in the eleven U.S. States listed below will no longer be able to gain access to VIP.com Poker:

Michigan, Illinois, Louisiana, Oregon, Wisconsin, Washington, Indiana, Nevada, New York, New Jersey and South Dakota

The blocking of players from these select U.S. States is a result of Microgaming's response to the recent Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Bill in the U.S. Affected States are those that have specific legislation banning online gambling or States that have represented that their conventional anti-gambling laws would cover online gambling.

VIP.com Poker sends its sincere apologizes to all affiliates and players affected by this recent development and confirms that they are busy working to find a long-term solution that will allow players from around the globe access to their poker room. VIP.com continues to provide all of their other services to all customers, including the quickest payouts in the industry, sports, casino and horse wagering, as well as 24/7 access for customers to their funds.

Players from these States that have a balance in their poker account and wish to make a withdrawal are being asked to contact VIP.com Poker Support at poker@vip.com or 1.800.300.BETS (2387).

Thank you for your patience and continued loyalty as we carry forward working through the recent obstacles. We will continue to keep you informed with regards to the availability of VIP.com's poker product to US players.

As always, please feel free to contact me with any questions, comments or concerns and I will do my best to address them.

Regards,
Mario Marques

"The President of the United States has signed new legislation
that will cause HollywoodPoker to suspend accepting deposits

this time your U.S. players' will continue to have the ability
to access their accounts as well as play HollywoodPoker games

All Non-U.S. players will not be affected. They will be able
to access localized poker, Blackjack and soon to be launched
casino and slot games, including progressive slots!

Midmonth Affiliate payments will be paid on schedule. We
understand that you may have a number of questions regarding
this new action, please refer to our Frequently Asked Questions

"Due to the recent enactment of the Federal 'Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act' in the United States Senate on September 30th, 2006, IOG Casinos are sad to announce that, effective from today, Friday 13th October, we will no longer be able to accept any new US based players, and that those US players already enjoying our services will no longer be able to wager and deposit at any of our clients.

The world is a very large place though, and IOG Casinos will now be concentrating on traffic from the non-US English speaking world, and mainland Europe.

With the possibility of legislation in the US hanging over our heads for many years, IOG Casinos foresaw possible issues arising from this and are already a market leader in the non-US arena.

With many of our casinos and websites already translated into French, Spanish, Italian, German, Swedish, Russian, Japanese and Chinese and with support services and call centers provided in localized languages, IOG Casinos already has a reputation of excellence amongst the players throughout these markets.

IOG Casinos would be more than happy to help you transfer your knowledge into these new, exciting opportunities. Our affiliate managers have years of experience in the non-US markets and we already have proven localized banners and marketing materials that have been developed over the years ready and waiting for you to use.

If you are interested in moving into one of these new markets our affiliate managers will be more than happy to speak to you to offer you advice.

Why are there 13 specific states mentioned instead of all 50 US states?

I was going to ask the same question.....shouldn't everyone who still wants to play, just move to a state that they can play in.....?????

Surely a law is a law...?????

Um, isn't it the case that there is both Federal and State law and that those are the only States with specific laws against on-line gambling?

I believe the number is 11 States, but i could be wrong. The explanation is partly included in one of Fonz's emails.................

The "Federal" law is the minimum standard each state must follow. At times, "State" laws can supercede the Federal law (or guidlines) if the States in question have such laws that carry stricter guidelines. It appears that those 11 states mentioned do have such laws that would outweigh the current Federal legislation.

You're right, it is 11. I guess I counted wrong or something. As for the explanation, I didn't read through all of the emails, just skimmed, so I'll go back and look.
